Yeah, I loved Diablo 2 pretty much, and hate almost everything what was shown about Diablo 3 so far , so I had to post :P
For me, it would be (probably) such disappointement as Starcraft 2 was.

inc09nito: Actually that's the opinion towards which my view is coming closer and closer with every big release nowadays. It is so because what is popular or not is decided upon wallets of casual gamers who do not like challenging and creative games. Lately gaming has been going the road which Hollywood took a while ago. Popular games are like popular movies: uncreative, with trite plots and full of amazing special effects, good voice acting and so on. They are dumbed-down because target audience has changed. 15 years ago gaming wasn't that popular as a hobby, games were kind-of hardcore entertainment only for people who really didn't bother that much about awkward controls and who could swallow not-so-amazing graphics. Now it has changed, so the games has changed.
So I expect Diablo III to be like a Transformers III in a movie industry. You can't say that it isn't dumbed-down for the sake of broader audience...
in other words: you're just one more sheep that hates stuff because it's popular? So I expect Diablo III to be like a Transformers III in a movie industry. You can't say that it isn't dumbed-down for the sake of broader audience...
news flash: Blizzard have always made games intended for a mass audience. that's why they're so damn successful with everything they do. you think Diablo 2 would have been such a success if only a few hardcore RPG gamers would have bought it?
that's why Blizzard games always have low to moderate hardware requirements because less-than-hardcore gamers tend not to upgrade their hardware all that often.
you must be impossible to please.

There are other options with hold true to the Glory of Diablo 2 in ways your mind may not be-able to process... For me, it would be (probably) such disappointement as Starcraft 2 was.
as for D3 i will never support a streamlined, feature ripped DLC filled peice of rubbish like that.... they removed over 23 core features they touted though 3 blizz cons just to release it... not to mention the consolization of the game.. BLAH gimme GD or T2!

I loved SC and I love SC2. For me it's a great evolution of perfect game. Only few improvement in mechanics plus better graphics and sound obviously. Enough to make it a modern game and stay 'old school' at the same time. For me, it would be (probably) such disappointement as Starcraft 2 was.
I can't wait for Diablo 3, preordered it long time ago, and beta only confirmed that it's going to be a great game.
If you are so disappointed in Diablo 3 maybe you should try Path of Exile?
I doubt there will be any DLCs for Diablo 3. Blizzard have never released a single DLC.

23 core features? Like? /hahahaha
Starkrun: by DLC i mean expansions... they already said 3 are planned and more mini ones or bought "enhancements" are expected though the shop... DLC, Expansion same thing to me..
Only one and, so far, single known expansion is in the works, nothing beyond that has been confirmed nor even talked about. Where did you get that kind of info? :D Starkrun: by DLC i mean expansions... they already said 3 are planned and more mini ones or bought "enhancements" are expected though the shop... DLC, Expansion same thing to me..
Also, mini ones / enhancements? Hahha, damn, man! EDIT: Never mind the crazy things that some people will post just for the sake of posting, :D, if you take Starcraft 2 as an example, every single released content after the game ships, like enhancements, patches, content patches, maps, scenarios, whatever, will be given to all players for free (of course, expansions are a different story).

I would be happy but I'm not sure - all this talk about connectivity and "Wow players can buy an annual pass" - is it going to be online only? Would there be a subscription or would it be like "Guild Wars"?
Ah well, I'm sure I won't have the money for it anyway, so I guess I'll learn more after it comes out.

Nope... about that annual pass... Players that play WoW can make a deal to subscribe for one full year, and get Diablo 3 for free. The annual sub is for WoW players, it has nothing to do with D3. It was a great deal back when it was announced, in October (since quite a few content was released by now)... But it has been ~5 months since that, and taking into account that there will be probably just a single additional content patch (which isn't confirmed, but I think Blizzard will release something so that players don't cancel their subs) until MoP hits stores, it isn't worth subscribing now.

Starkrun: You sir are amazing... this looks fantastic! i just hope its not another Requiem 'Memento Mori' or Dark Eden.... But i stand by Grim Dawn or Torchlight 2 as my picks... i love me a good ol'fashioned dungeon romp...
PoE is going to be f2p so you can try it anyway. I might even have a spare beta key somewhere if you're interested. Not 100% sure though, I'd have to check.keeveek

But you can call it microevolution at most. Microevolution that costs 60EUR. Looks like total Diablo 2 rip off, but I will take a look , definitely.
Except Diablo 2 , the hns game I loved the most was Titan Quest.

Skill tree looks very nice... and well, im only going off what ive read and all the features that were axed prior to open/closed beta and what not... i honestly dont care about the D3.. i've lost interest in the game... only because everything it once was has changed but who knows... i have a bud getting it and i'll give it a try... As for PoE that looks very fun...

Why insulting me in the first place?
Second, I play many of the new games. I just wrote that they are often dumbed-down, but I have never said that I hate them.
Well, I don't think Diablo 1, Warcraft 1 or even Starcraft 1 were intended for a mass audience. But Diablo 2 - I agree, this was created with broader audience in mind. And one can easily see it - it's different than the first game. More like a rush for the money than a summit of creativity. But it was good and I bet that Diablo 3 will be good as well - only still dumbed-down even more to make casual gamers happy. Nothing wrong with that - but I'll just go for other titles (especially considering the price and DRM) ...
