Best game of all times. Where can I download this game for Windows 7. If not should this be a project for the GOG team

Blizzard games are only distributed digitally through their own store. Check out Battle.net, though I don't think even they sell Diablo anymore.

Diablo is about as likely to come here as Half-Life, i.e. not at all.
Unfortunately the original Diablo is not available anymore. I just checked. The second one and its expansion is though.
Amazon is still selling the original Diablo, here anyway. What might be difficult is, besides getting it to run properly on Win 7, finding the Hellfire expansion pack which is my preferred Diablo 1 game play. . . . =)

Edit: Should mention Hellfire runs fine on my XP box, I assume the vanilla Diablo will do the same.

Diablo works fine on Windows 7. Just kill explorer.exe if you get the palette issue.

Thanks, good info to have. I will some day move it to my Win 7 box I'm sure. Nowadays, I don't play it but maybe once a year for a level or two . . . =)

This works so incredibly well, it also solves the same kind of issue for me in X-Wing and Tie-Figter W95 edition and Wing Commander 4.

I got Diablo for free a few years ago with a magazine I bought. Even though I completed it twice, I don't think it's worth my time nowadays, as Diablo II surpasses it in every way imho.

Just keeping the screen resolution window open might work.
FYI for those old games you can make a .bat file that kills explorer when you launch the game and immediately starts it again once you close the program. Just substitute it with your .exe et voila.

unfortunately it won't work in multiplayer though, win 7 doesn't support the old ipx connections :(

Hm, maybe you can fix that with Hamachi?
I thought Diablo was playable on Battle.Net.

Is it still retailed through battlenet in some form or do they just support the MP aspect? Far as I know Diablo (and its expansion) along with Warcraft 1 and 2 are only out on disks if you can get them from Amazon and teh like - I can't recall seeing them even on the Blizzard storepage (excepting in a box deal - I think they still sell the diablo 1+2 box but without hellfire)
Unfortunately, I do not believe Diablo can be purchased stand alone anymore but you certainly can purchase it as part of the Diablo Battlechest. Not sure about in New Zealand but a copy of the battlechest can be found in just about any store that sells computer games in the U.S. Also, you can play on battle.net but I'd recommend having a friend in mind if you do, there are hacks galore. Last time I played online, about two years ago I think, it wasn't really worth the trouble. Great game though, I still beat it once a year usually.
