I just did my first boss fight and honestly I am not sure what people were complaining about. I threw a grenade at him and then head-shot him like 5 times and he was dead. I didn't even get hit.

I guess having to kill in a pacifist playthrough is annoying, but people were acting like these were massive bummers.

Well, I think it is because in the first two Deus Ex games, there are no mandatory boss fights really. Doesn't matter how bad they are, it is just that they are there to begin with in Deus Ex 3. (haven't gotten to the boss battle yet myself. I think I'm close to it probably. but not here yet)

But come again, even big name sites like IGN and gamespot complained about the boss battles. So, maybe they suck besides the fact the boss fights are mandatory.

dukenuke88: do you guys think the price of DX HR will drop like a rock in the next few months?

I mean there was a deal going on...this was like a month ago or 2....DX HR was $30 at green man gaming.....and you can activate it through steam, since it is a steamworks game
I guarantee if you stay up all night on Black Friday you can get it for 30-35 USD at Amazon.com, so yes, you'll get it for a lot less, no it's normal retail price won't be so low.

Yeah, I get the whole "we can't avoid them like we could in Deus Ex" thing. I mean it was hard to avoid them then and most people surely fought them, and I think Simons was required, but yeah, I get that. It just seems like a lot of people are also saying they are very hard and annoying... I didn't get that. Like I said, I didn't even get hit.

I would chalk it up to console controls not making headshots as easy but even PC people like rockpapershotgun complained about them. This thread on GameFAQs is a good example of what I think is way over-the-top.
I agree with Velvet. The guy charges a mini-gun and fires until it overheats. Obvious pattern and very easy to take down with an armor piercing 10MM pistol. If you have to put boss fights in that is the way to do it imo.

If you throw a frag grenade at him he is staggered for a while afterward and you can pummel him with headhots during that phase. I did that twice and he died... I was literally shocked at how easy it was when the video came up.
If you're finding loading takes too long note that turning off vsync will noticeably reduce load times. If you have vsync forced in your video card's control panel you'll need to turn it off there as well as in the game, of course.

Hopefully they will patch this properly later on, but for now this makes it at least tolerable.

I'll try this tonight. Thank you!

I like your "I spill my drink" line as well. Nice nod to the original in a very subtle way.

There was never a way to play through the original with complete pacifism. You HAD to kill Anna Navarre.

According to this website (which has a link to a youtube video), you don't actually have to kill Anna (though she is the one that is the most "required" I think). Though basically it is just actually running away from her quickly.

I took advantage of this (very-difficult-to-trigger) bug that lets you bypass the Anna fight leaving her alive. It's interesting in that there are slight changes to Gunther's dialogue later on at the cathedral that don't acknowledge her death. He isn't mad at you or anything, at least once you get to him face-to-face and he isn't transmitting taunts into your ear. The level itself is still full of suggestions that say Anna is dead, however: books, dialogue, &c. So keeping her alive was one of the many cool things dropped from the game in the end, like all those extra AIs and the moon base. x_x

I thought it was Simons you had to kill. If you avoid him at the ocean lab he will reappear at area 51.
