It's probably old news already, but I just noticed that Nordic Games scored the Desperado series! It was Atari up till a month ago. I know because I eyed it for months, only to notice today that it's now under Nordic's name, not Atari's.

Whether people know or not, thought I'd point it out! ;D

I hope Masters of Orion and Star Control, among others, get the same treatment (publishers who are already in agreement with GOG). I wish Atari IP's the best!
I DON'T WANT MASTER OF ORION TO GO TO GEARBOX !!! :((((
So we can expect at a minimum two games not been taken from our GOG libraries. When is doomsday in Atari land(ie. all the IP's get auctioned).

amen...

Though I'm crossing my fingers for the Homeworlds to finally come here.

Games don't get removed from your library, ever, regardless of the publisher or rights wars. If you own it, you keep it.

I haven't got an earthly what this means in the grand scheme of things but I bought the GOG version of this and it's a crashathon. At first it "worked", i.e. the intro video played and the game started but it was s-l-o-w. Next thing the game wouldn't launch at all. I think it may have something to do with my machine (Alienware) but I don't know. This is one of my very few "epic fail" purchases from GOG (Nox being another).

I believe there was a case to the contrary? Where GOG told people in X days(or hours or whatever) game Y will be removed from your library?

Edit:

I am not saying it is a likely scenario but the mere possibility makes me want to download/backup ALL Atari games from GOG.

Well, at least Outcast was bought by it's original creators and a new game is coming.

Being a newer user I am curious about this. Is it most likely the case that games get removed from sale but remain avaliable to previous purchasers or is it widespread GOG games might disappear altogether. For example, I'm interested in the Fallout series... if it changes publishers am I protected as a previous purchaser or might it just vanish if I don't save the file locally? I get the sense that GOG purchases are secure but now have some uncertainty.

If you buy Fallout today and it gets pulled tomorrow it will still be in your library, every GOG that has been pulled has always been available for all who bought it.

And it's funny you mention Fallout, because GOG WILL lose it in 2014 due to it switching publishers. Unless they somehow get Zenimax onboard.

Any game you bought remains in your account regardless of whether it gets pulled off or not. It only means other people won't be able to buy it.

We did get warned for a couple such issues a few years ago that the games may get removed from our shelves, but such has not happened yet.

No one who bought a game before its removal from the store have lost said game from their shelf. The games can still be downloaded (at the state they were in when removed - no removed game have been updated with, for example, compatibility fixes beyond what they already had by then).

I am aware of the Fallout problem; fingers crossed for a bundle sale on the Fallout games come Winter that way we can acquire them at a good price while still DRM free.

Thank you both.
I was pretty sure that I was referring to something else, but there is atleast this.

That was just a glitch. I own Second Sight (and some of the other games that were removed) and I can still download it without any problems.

That is certainly good to know. But I still can't shake this feeling of remembering some GOG official telling people to download a certain game within 48 hours or something like that because it was gonna be permanently removed from their GOG library. But i DO know that even if am correct that would certainly have been the exception to the rule. I just except bad things to happen to the Atari games. I don't know why, it is not rational.
