Wondering if I should make a different account; the minus rep is a bit long, and it would be easier if I made a new one so i can start fresh. I know I should get more involved with the community, but I want to not be the one guy with a bajillion neg-rep.

Sometime soon-ish, they are going to upgrade the site, and I believe they will do something about the rep system then.

So, you could wait it out if you like.

You're not the only one, either.

Cheers.
My post did not post.

(Why did that one post?)

Just saying, I actually like the way the rep system works right now.

Hate the rep system and it should go. But you should probably just wait the upgrade out to see about that first.

I could be wrong, but I'd bet a fair amount of money that if you create a new account, it won't be long before you start getting seriously downrepped again, because whoever is doing it will figure out your new identity and realize what they're doing is in fact getting to you and thus provide them incentive to work even harder at it.

Pretend the number isn't even there. If someone has giveaways that require rep, that's a statement about them, not about you. Just ignore those giveaways.

The internets work similarly to life, whereas if you let someone know they can get to you, then they'll never, ever stop. Both in the real world and the virtual one. Ignore a number under your name that says absolutely nothing about who you are unless you allow it to.

I've seen enough of your posts to realize you're not some kind of monster, so please don't let others try and define you that way with a stupid numbering system that means NOTHING.

Again gog, please just get rid of rep.
For what's it's worth, I've been uprepping every post of yours I come across. Not that I care much about rep, but it's sad to see someone with that negative amount, nonetheless.

My advice would be to leave the Ninja thread and the trading threads altogether, people in there tend to be mean and disrespectful, from what I've seen so far. Try to help folks on the game sub-forums, engage in goofy conversation on any topic that might interest you, and your rep should go up fairly quick. Just try avoiding especially the ninja and trading threads, and you should be fine.

You could also do giveaways, if you have the money or the codes/keys, but unfortunately that didn't seem to help you much the last time, so... :(

But try to wait a bit, until GOG announces something on the restructuring and revamping of the site and forum, I'm hoping they'll get rid of this nonsensical rep, at least let's hope they eliminate downrepping once and for all.

Really well said OFG, that was some great sage advice. And Lester don't worry you're not the only one with that much negative rep because I am catching up with you thanks to my many admirers who go through the trouble of following my posts on this forum :P. But, never once have I thought about creating a new account because firstly I have quite a few games on the account and also a lot of nice folks know me here now as one of the examples of the efficacy of the current rep system as it is. ;)

Wow, minus 86.

Well, if you get 14 more negative rep you should be in line for $50 worth of gog games of your choice, IF that poster lives up to his word. So there is that....

I hope you don't mind, but I am rooting for someone to hit it exactly just to see if said poster will follow through. He posted a challenge saying anyone that reached -100 rep would get $50 worth of games, and Lester posted claiming the win, to which the OP said it had to be EXACTLY -100. If you're going downhill anyway, I hope you get some free games from it.

But since I don't expect that one to live up to his contest, I'm not going to downrep you, sorry. (LOL, sorry for not downrepping you?!?!?!?!) See what a messed up thing rep is!@! It's all messed up. LOL

groze: My advice would be to leave the Ninja thread
Don't do this! Ninja thread is for ninjas. People who drop keys in the ninja thread know that the key could go to anyone - even to users with -150 rep. And don't stop dropping a "Thanks, got that key", even if it is exactly what brings the downrepping on you.

Don't do giveaways for rep. It's stupid to pay for a number under your avatar. Do giveaways if you feel like giving away games.

Go on as usual and one day people will learn to accept you. Just have a look at tinyE. His rep went for a walk on Mariana Trench. But one day people realized that he is a funny guy once you get his kind of humor. Look where his rep is now. Don't try to be someone else for rep. If someone asks you what happened to your rep? Tell them. Who's looking like the douchebag? The guy who got a code in a thread dedicated for dropping codes, or the people who downrep him for getting the code?

Just ignore your rep. It's useless and nobody's going to judge you for that number.

Don't make a new account. Just avoid making the kind of posts that usually end up low rated. The day you reach 0 rep we'll celebrate.
How the hell did you get to -140 in the first place ? :/

You've gotten much more civilized and caring over the last year, you know that?
