Wonder if the English version is floating somewhere out there also. Remembering sinking some time into it on the Amiga.

Well, you can buy Amiga Forever for the legit Amiga ROM package and after that no one basically gives a damn where you get your games from, the AF page itself will link you to archives with games' floppy images.
The English manual online is in text-only form though http://www.gamesover.com/walkthroughs/clue.txt

It was called 'The Clue' in English, which I think might be a gross mistranslation based on the sound of the word rather than the meaning.

I only had the sequel (Der Clou 2), which was called The Sting in English. As I understand it that's a much better translation of the name. I can see why they dropped the "2" though, it would have confused people. It's very good, but rather buggy.

Try Der Clou. It's less pointless walking around the map wrestling the camera and more planning and stealing.

I'm happy to see there are other people here who know this game. Der Clou is awesome, it almost made me consider a real-life career in burglary because of how much fun the planning and execution is in the game.
