I knew the guy wasn't doing well, but I didn't think he was losing his battle with cancer. This is so sad, I have enjoyed nearly all of his movies... well, except Super Mario Brothers, but we won't talk about that.

I love his story when John Wayne tells him to stop doing all this 'method crap' and just read his lines In True Grit he has a small part but is a real stand out, along with many other roles in the late 50's early sixties. Great cameo in Apocalypse Now too.
