Navagon: I think my Xfire account is also Navagon. Sure, I'll add you! Although I'm still getting to grips with the game at the moment.
.
if it says I'm online, it's the missus, she's probably playing the sims 3.

Navagon: Target?
it's a retail outlet here in the states, some people don't realise the web is world wide.

The amount of women that love that game is a bit disconcerting... given that its sole focus is on controlling people's day to day lives... LOL Nothing we didn't already know, I suppose.

Ah, yeah, I remember hearing about it. Isn't that the one which attracts wannabe goths like moths to the flame?

No, that's Hot Topic.

Oh yeah, that's the one. We don't have that one either. Or at least, not in this neck of the woods.
I have played Demigod a lot in singleplayer lately. Ok, it gets a bit predictable after some matches, but I've had great fun with it.
I'm not such a fan of multiplayer, I like to mess up on my own and not having anyone around to see it. I know Demigod is probably intended mainly for multiplayer, but ... as I said, it's been quite fun to play on my own and I'm happy I bought it despite having no plans to play online.

I know what you mean. I take multiplayer a bit more seriously for that reason and I don't play any game straight out in multiplayer. Which is why I didn't even try the demo of Demigod. It seems like the AI is more than capable of putting up a fight though. So I should at least be able to hone my skills with that and not embarrass myself online too much.

No, you won't Ai is not representative of a real person at all.
It's a good game, surely it gets dull after a bit of time like most RTS, at least it's what happens to me... it's also not the most creative piece of game but it has quite a polished gameplay, that forces players to try to adopt a constructive/collaborative style of playing online, if you don't you fail, while the game now is a solid piece the future improvements such as the DLCs vs Player made contents are quite questionable.

May be, but there's a huge difference between rushing into the game without real cnowledge of game itself and after some matches with AI. I didn't play demigod, but that applies to pretty much any game out there

read gamefaqs, have an understanding as to how to build your character, and you're good.

I'm pretty sure anyone who red gamefaq AND played the game against AI would be better than anyone who just red gamefaq :D

I'm not suggesting you red gamefaqs, I'm not even sure if that's possible, but reading it, that's a go.
edit:
also, for a few classes (like UCB) I read about them on gamefaqs before playing. The best way to learn is to play with someone who knows what they're doing, because no tutorial or amount of stumbling will prod you in the right direction.

I really like Demigod.
Of course, I tend to play as the annoying Sedna (Pounce, Heal, and run baby!).

I don't mean that. I mean it would help me get to grips with the gameplay mechanics along with the strengths and weaknesses of the various demigods.
For instance, the first demigod I chose was Castledude* who turned out to not compensate his slowness with endurance as well as I had hoped. The angel with the crossbow however proved much more enduring, even though they were more of a support character.
*Proper, official name. No arguments.

I'm liking the angel with the crossbow, who equally seems focussed on hit and run.

Personally, I wasn't all that enthused from my demo experience. The map there was rather uninteresting...no terrain features, no tactical high ground, nothing...and the others look to be more of the same. Brad Wardell already came out and said the emergence of more maps is unlikely due to their level of detail, meaning the DLC they kept talking up is now going to consist only of new Demigod characters. And going with p2p for multiplayer just wasn't a good decision. One bad ping can slow a whole game to a crawl, and it becomes yet another peer 2 peer transmission service that gets killed by any ISP that shapes bandwidth. Couple all that with both GPG and Stardock workong on their next game, AND Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends both launching soon, and I don't see this one having much of a lifespan.
