That was really odd as it conflicts with this:
Gamers shall have the right to demand that a single-player game not force them to be connected to the Internet every time they wish to play.
While they could just wait the 30-60 seconds for each stage of launching the game, it's pretty lame to include that check there. Instead, that's what Impulse is for (patch management).
I'm glad to hear that someone reminded them of that.
