There appears to be a few individuals that like to go around and give negatives to others on the boards, and I think this is something that as a community we can not only stop but overcome.
Here is my suggestion.
Every time you see a negative by a person's post give them a positive to offset it. I am only talking about the posts that clearly do not deserve a true negative.
We can, by overwhelming numbers, thwart any attempt to abuse the system as it now stands.
It is likely this thread will incur negative numbers rather quickly as there are people in the community that act in a childish manner and give negatives for no reason other then they can.
Please, let's go about giving out positive points to be a better community.
I have hopes that the gog staff will correct this system and negatives will be a thing of the past in the not too distant future.
Thanks

As much as I appreciate your forward thinking, what determines whether or not someone really deserves a minus? sometimes it's debatable.
Although, I do recommend you read this thread.
The GOG.com team has something in the works so we can be patient, I have an idea that next Tuesday will be this update, but I could be mistaken.
Weclock, I agree, but it is so obvious that there are posts that have zero reason to be given a negative. These are the ones I am talking about.
Until gog fixes it all, I think we as a community can do something, and giving a Positive is a good place to start.
Just for bringing this up, I'm negativing you a point everytime you post from now on. Forever.
At least your up front about it. Not that it makes a lot of sense, but at least your honest enough to say it for all to see.

Considering it's all a matter of perspective, this is really just abusing the system, except in a different way. If you give a plus to a post just because someone else gave it a minus, might as well just do the opposite.

Yeah, although it isn't really going to do much help one way or another really, because you need a number of +1's or -1's to a single post for it to affect your rep. A number of +1's or -1's spread across a number of posts doesn't do anything.
Haha... I'm positived 2 points for being a jerk. See? It's all arbitrary.
I am confused as to why so many people get negative's sometimes when I truly cannot imagine how the post would upset anybody. Sometimes it's somebody saying something as trivial as "hey it's cloudy today!" and I'll see that they have a couple of negatives. But who knows, maybe I'm not supposed to get it.

like I said before, getting one minus for that isn't such a big deal, it would be great if that person could say why, but sometimes it's a mistake, that plus and minus button are rather close.
mostly the problem is that people aren't satisfied with a -1, but the real issue is that it will hide the posts, even if you have it unchecked. a -1 shouldn't hide the post from everyone, now a -5 might make more sense to hide, but just 1 person disagreeing? well why don't we censor the president of the United States, because I don't agree with him. :)

That would be a bug in the forum software, no? I've not encountered that myself, anyway, posts don't get hidden unless the relevant checkbox is marked and the post has a rating of -5 or below. Seems to work fine.
any post you hit -1 on will hide, and even if you uncheck hide all posts with negative rating, any like you said are -5 and below still won't show.

I don't really see the problem with hiding posts that you yourself downvoted. That's the reason you clicked that minus button, after all.

What a bloody hypocrite !
You see someone get a - score and you think they deserve better so you must do everything to thwart the negative awarding folk ! ! You're not UK John in disguise are you? He's just as ridiculous when it comes to rep issues.
I said on the other thread and I'll say here again I have every right to give whatever score I like and not one of you has any right whatsoever to say that I cannot give a + or a - as and when I see fit.
You, on the other hand, don't really have the moral high ground to try to negate whatever score is given by giving an opposite score to settle the balance, just because you think it isn't fair.
You have just shown with your dishonest and arrogant thoughts that the rep system is a mockery and should be lifted and removed so people like you cannot abuse it.

I don't want a post hidden, even if I downvoted it. There's no way to change that. And apparently, from the discussion on the other thread the GOG.com team will be addressing it.
Also, the poster of that comment can change what's written and it still won't show the post.
