Siannah: There are quite a few posts I wouldn't miss at all....
What happened, happened. Even if a post annoyed me back in the day, I'd like to have the option to go back and see what it was that annoyed me so.
Wouldn't it be easier to ask support to ban yourself from the forum and block all PMs?
Do you think it would be possible to get the posts deleted of someone who has no intention of leaving the forum? :P

Just thinking.

MaximumBunny: They can delete an account, though your posts will remain. Take for example Judas' old posts before he was an admin. They're not blue. So posts are independent of current status.
Depends actually. There have been cases of deleted posts, and deleted accounts losing posts. Look for Gameon, even though there appear to be multiple Gameon accounts, only one of which is deleted. You can find posts of his being quoted though.

Yes. Ask GameRager ;)

Ouch! Actually I was thinking more about my reluctance to be told my genitals are going to fall off because of flouride in the water.
I'll echo what others have said, and for likely similar reasons have left this forum for times as well. But think about deleting your account before you do.

I download all of my games. I have found more than one that ended up corrupted. (some during the download and some over periods of time). Once deleted, you can't re-download those games. The one thing I like about this site is unlike youtube, you aren't subjected to the knuckleheads unless you click on the "Forums" link.

Even if you have a problem with GOG (official). That you are keeping your games shows the problem isn't so bad you are willing to leave them behind in the wake. So, with that said, why not just leave the account open and only come back when you need a file? (As mentioned above you can go straight to your file and leave again).

But, you have your options, so as long as you can live with what happens, I wish you the best. Even though I don't know you, I hate seeing when people can't tolerate differences (on whichever side that may fall). Take care.
I always miss those things leading to people rage-quitting and I am alwas stuck with goodbye threads with no context. That sucks.

But I think his posts were only deleted by auto anti-spam system and were restored later and the system got fixed to prevent this I think.
So it shows posts can be deleted but the way it happened with GR is no longer viable.

I remember that stupid guy, Lucipela or whatever, who was just being dick and insulted everyone around and all his posts are gone so even other people got posts deleted.

Is that why that happened...Hindsight is 20/20.
I'm sorry to hear you're going, but if you feel you must. I would point out to you, the same point I made to our hippo friend. If you all leave because the community is bad, all that will be left is a bad community. Why not stick around and try to pick the community up a bit?

It was sad when Gameon left in a really bitter fashion and demanded his posts be deleted. The result was a load of really confusing threads where we could only see half the conversation. I'd agree with others that if you are so minded to do this, just stop posting. Keep the free backup store of your games that GOG provide, keep the ability to get additional free games in the future. Also, keep supporting the DRM free revolution, even if not vocally in the community. There's no benefit to deleting your account and posts, unless you're upset with something that you have posted. I doubt you are, so just fade out of the community and keep the rest.

Not all of his were restored. Take a look at the GOG Photo thread, you can find him quoted, but the posts aren't there. Tell me if you need a link.

I do.
For the record, I always confused Lain and Keveek (who used to have a Lain avatar). To the point I'm not sure I've ever had a chat with the actual Lain leaving here, and kinda bothers me.

Here. Post 14 is a deleted one, can be seen quoted in post 17.

Thanks for link. Hah, I remember that thread I even upvoted some post there.
It is strange that some of his posts got restored but some are gone. Selective restoration of his better posts perhaps? :-)

Also @Iain: what others said. You should take some time to think if you really want to delete your account. Even if you really think you can't be on forums anymore, there is no reason to not keep your account alive, if only to be able to redownload your games if you need to.

Iain: Will GOG completely delete an account once all the games are downloaded, including all forum posts if requested?

Just not happy with this place anymore unfortunately :(
Yes, you have to contact support and "give them a reason." Just say you're addicted to video games or something like that, it'll be good enough. You have to verify your identity with information from your last purchase (date, amount, contents, last 4 digits of CC used).
