rampancy: I'm a pretty jaded gamer, so for a game like this to reach into me and grab me so decisively was a pretty major feat.

lowyhong: IKR? What manner of sorcery is this? I don't even like TD ffs, and I preordered this before it even came to GOG.
I'm also not a fan of Tower Defense games, but I really enjoyed Defender's Quest. The difference for me was the well made introduction and the option to replay all levels. Also you got enough time to plan everything, it's not that typical hurry up click faster micro-management (don't know how to describe it better). Wtih good tactical decisions and well developed characters you also have good chances to win some levels while you are more a slow-paced player like me.
BUT HAVE YOU KILLED DAT SHEEP
I can't kill sheeps, they are so fluffy... Serious, I can't remember that sheep. Was it early in the game? I needed to go back to some levels later, so maybe not in the first run.

Did you play the sheep level on Extreme? XD

Upon starting it up, my reaction was "DAT SHEEP".

Since we now know DQ will be released soon, how about GoG put it up now as a Pre-Order? So we can download those goodies the dev mentioned? Might as well right?

lowlyhong is referring to one of the challenge missions after the <spoiler>. In it, you have to fight this mega über-mensch sheep with something on the order of 1,000,000 hp. Listen, I tried every trick and tactic I could think of. I even grinded the rest of the game over and over just to get every special item and weapon I could think of, even that crazy expen$ive sword for Slak.

And I *still* couldn't kill that fscking sheep. I think on the last "successful" run I made on it, I was able to wear it down to 1,000 hp before it killed me.
^Use Rangers + Berserkers. I maxed out my Rangers' Rapid Shot, and gave each a minimum of Level 1 Spread Shot. Then I maxed out Azra's Frenzy, and also maxed my Mages' Chill.

When the game starts, put a mage in, and throw in as many rangers as possible, boosted to level 3 (to use Rapid Shot). Put one Berserker at the side to slice the white sheep for psi. Also, keep casting Frenzy when possible. This is the most important part. Also, keep putting up Berserkers along its path to slice at it.

It seems I wasn't close to the sheep then, because I really can't remember it. Tried to find some videos on youtube, but nothing there so far. I guess the Killer-Sheep comes later then.

<SPOILERr> I stopped playing somewhere in the middle of the mountain. Hardest enemy so far was the Zombie King.</SPOILER>

rampancy: I've beaten the game twice on Extreme before the Gold update, and I still can't beat that damned Hell Sheep.
How do you beat the last stage on Extreme?

DukeNukemForever:
Tip: don't neglect the other monsters. Farm the other monsters for psi (I use Ketta to take down the armoured skeletons), and use the healer + berserkers combo to fight the boss.

Same strategy you did for the sheep, I guess; I poured everything into my rangers first, and then my berzerkers, with ice mages for backup. I actually also came to rely heavily on my knights, with whom I'd heavily boosted their knockback skill.
Alright, fine, if it will tide me over until Defense Grid: Containment lands, then I'll play it:)

FINALLY BEAT HIM!!!
Few more hours to go!
Hey guys! We're about to launch!

We have a new feature in version 1.0.47, which I'll hopefully get uploaded to GOG's servers prior to release. If not, it'll be in a forthcoming patch and your auto-updater will catch it.

This feature is "Azra's Journal", which is only in New Game+, basically an extra dose of story for people who are into that. Also some minor balance tweaks to healers to make ether flash less dependent on random chance, and toning down the frequency of the NPC's actions in the final level a bit so your face doesn't melt from seizures.

I have keys from GOG to distribute to our pre-October 30th customers, but I'm still working on the technical details of sending them out en-masse. Should figure it out soon and get those out ASAP, but it might not perfectly coincide with launch. Hope you all understand.

Thanks. Late GOG keys are better than no GOG keys :)

Great work on the story btw. Having played through NG and half of NG+, I really like the humour and writing. I'm no English / Lit major, but even so, the quality is undeniably there, and is especially remarkable for an indie game. One of the reasons DQ's so compelling is thanks to the comic-style cutscenes and the hilarious bantering that takes place. Props to whoever did the story!
