Now THIS game sounds promising "Hothead calls the game a mixture of the adventure aspects from a game like his own The Secret of Monkey Island with the combat and role-playing of a Diablo". Basically an RPGish / Adventuresque game which is a pisstake of overused cliches?
I'm in
With that name, how can it be any different?
Also, "role-playing of a Diablo" - what role-playing? I think I've turned on all the stones I could possibly find and I sure haven't seen any RP in that game.
I'd like to try that one out, sounds fun.
Oh hell yes! This has serious potential to be awesome fun. *adds to list*

There isn't any. But Diablo is classed as an RPG as Hack 'n' Slash has yet to be defined as a genre.

Diablo isn't an RPG in the traditional sense but is called that because "Loot Management System" sounds less interesting

It has RPG elements. But the role you play boils down to picking a skill tree and filling it as you see fit. There's no character and there certainly aren't any choices regarding plot development. Ideally, the genre does need its own name. If nothing else it would help it attract a wider audience than calling it an RPG would.
that's the same what they tell about the upcomming torchlight.
Yes, but the guy seems to think there is role-playing in Diablo, he doesn't call it an RPG. "The adventure aspects from [...] Monkey Island with the action and role-playing of a Diablo"
Oh, well, I suppose it depends on what one defines role-playing as. As I've said before though, that fact doesn't lessen my enjoyment of the Diablo series so far (and probably not with the next installment either), and Deathspank does sound like an awful lot of fun. If nothing else, the title along makes it worth getting.
yeah i agree , i'd ove to get another hack 'n slash game with some depth :)
whacking enemies like in titanquest where you can knock them offscreen is great.
come to think of it , there aren't a lot of those games where you can kill nmy's in a humoristic way. that's why i have my hope up for torchlight and this title seems also capable of doing that job :)
Been following this game for a while now from Ron Gilberts blog, so I'm really looking forward to it. Those screenshots look really nice but it appears we will have to wait until the 4th to see the game in action. Can't wait.
The trailer is out

It sort of puts me in mind of the old PS1 adventure Medieval with a bit of Castle Crashers thrown into the mix and I LOVE the logo!
Um... the logo is a pair of pink panties with a sword logo in the front?
Image from the aforementioned video, so it shouldn't be more NSFW than the trailer.
EDIT: Oh, right, Aliasalpha already mentioned the logo, he didn't describe it though.
