Deciding to bump this. Bring Lucasarts and Rebellion to GoG.

Been playing multiplayer of Rebellion on Gameranger, and I'll tell you its a completely different ballgame compared to playing against the weak AI computer.

And I've found a way to get the game to work on my Windows 7 64 bit computer, if anyone's interested.

Maintenence wise though the Rebels beat the crap out of the Imperials pound for pound. You only need around 8 X-Wings to safely repel an Imperial Star Destroyer fully loaded with tie fighters from one of your planets, although I think you might be able to do it with 7 but suffering slightly more losses. Maintenence wise, the Rebels win that battle everytime, X-Wings only require 4 maintenence each, Y-Wings I believe are the same though I never build any additional ones. ISDs if I remember correctly cost around 70 maintenence points to keep around, plus change if you count a tie escorts. This allows the Rebels to more easily scrap mines and refineries early in the game on planets they wish to turn into production centers, especially useful for planets that start off with construction yards that need to get the ball rolling as soon as possible.

And if your able to get a fair amount of bothan spies trained up, the imperials will have a tough time cracking the Rebels defenses if they can see where they need to set up their fighters ahead of time.

It takes so long for the Imperials to get to the point where building a Death Star is viable for it to even be worth it sometimes, usually the only time you'll see them being able to invest in it is when they have the upper hand to be able to afford it and its maintenence cost. And when the Imperials have the upper hand in such a way, likely who's going to win in the end has already been decided

You might be able to find a copy on ebay for a reasonable price, and you can play multiplayer on Gameranger without hassles.

If you get a copy though unless you use Windows XP or older you'll have to use an unconventional way to install the game since it doesn't like 64 bit systems very much and it doesn't like Vista either I think. I found a way to get it to work on my Windows 7 64 bit computer though so if you need to know how to get it to work feel free to ask me.

If GOG got Lucas I'd be so broke I couldn't afford to pay attention.

I remember this game. I think it was the first strategy games set in the SW universe. The prospect of having that level of control and micromanagement was exciting, but it generally received bad reviews. But it certainly would find a very nice home on GOG.

Well now it gets complicated. A New Hope is older than Revenge of the Sith but took place before Return of the Jedi which is older than Attack of the Clones and yet took place after The Empire Strikes Back.
