Allthough i have no reason to be mad, i will ofc give you a -1 for this, seeing as giving you a +1 would mean you would get +2 for creating xtra account, todays motto will be punnish&forgive, not reward&forgive :)

Tend to agree with the majority here. Just be friendly and nice. That can take you a long way in the cyber world but more importantly, in the real world. Thunderstone's advice above is top notch and I can relate to it since thats how I partake in forum communities.

As for rep, I've been here for a bit over a year and still have no idea how it works. I imagine its the +/- "rate this post" buttons but have noticed no change in peoples reps when I've clicked the + symbol so it may go up some other way.
Its important to some people and not so important to others - but irregardless, when you're new to a forum community, rep should be very low on your priority lists of things to be concerned about. As long as you act maturely and are friendly, rep will take care of itself.

Not sure why exactly you had to make a post like this but if any of it is true, wow. Creating multiple accounts is a no-no. Anyone with even a little bit of community/forum experience should be aware of that. Your credibllity is completely shot if/when you get found out. But this is a very mature apology you've made and is a good step in the right direction by owning up to your mistakes. Good luck.

I agree, which is why I gave a +1 to his last post in here......whoever low rated it(imo) should have their head examined if him saying he's sorry is considered offensive to them.

I agree 100%........I just wish people wouldn't do the equivalent of smacking people in the face with a police baton after someone's apologized.

(This is another reason I believe all ratings should be public.....it would make those doing so more honest and less likely to push the +/- button for unfair/wrong reasons.)

Honestly, Not to be mean but I think this is the way it has always been. People always judge by first impressions, which is plain rude as everyone should get a chance to redeem themselves.

Agreed...imo anyone who hides behind a screen and uses their anonymity to -1 people they dislike out of spite(Not those who -1 fairly and to those who deserve it.) is a coward and a cretin.

Luckily such people are few and far between here on GOG.

First off, I want to say that this is a good attempt at reconcilliation, especially for a 14 year old. For that, you're getting a +1 from me. Ever since I saw you state your age, I knew how to take your posts, though many did not.

If you want to be a part of the community, the first thing I'd recommend is to forget about "rep". A lot of people will down rep you for a few common reasons: 1) if you talk about rep 2) if you appear to be wanting to "take" and not contribute 3) If you ask for free games 4) If you say something that they don't agree with. Simply put, many will downrep if they don't like what you said. You can also say brilliant things, give away items, and nobody gives you a +1. In reality, it doesn't matter. You will get downrepped for a while, cause people are like that. But eventually they'll forget. :)

So, in all... forget about rep. It'll get up when it goes up, and may go down here and there. :)

Now that you've forgotten about your rep completely ( ;) ), just continue to contribute to the forums. Say your thoughts, say thank you, be polite, etc. You seem to take this really personal, which I would at your age as well. It's alright, buddy! Eventually people will forget about the other things and see you as you present yourself.

You have a good, and sensitive heart. As most teenagers, you're looking for acceptance. We will generally accept you. There will always be those that will not- it's part of life, and nothing to do with you.

This sums it up quite beautifully. And we others maybe should be more aware that here are also young gamers now yet fully grown up, in other words still learning. So if somebody acts a bit odd, we should ask for the age and react accordingly.

I'm with you on this.

Who was willing to even create extra accounts to get his rep up to where he wanted it, and is now doing the most logical step to get himself there which is publicly apologize.

Yes, I'm a skeptic :) Words are just that, and plenty of people will say anything to get what they want.

Everyone makes mistakes.....it takes a big man to admit them, and an even bigger man to forgive those who make them & move on.

(I agree that those who transgress(online and off) should be punished appropriately, but not in unfair ways or for longer than is truly necessary.)

I'm sure it is. I'm not a bigger man. I'm a cynic, skeptical sort, and I'm saying that my general experience on forums over the last decade tells me that most of the time people aren't actually sincere with apologies and similar statements (often used to simply get attention). Therefor I agree with Tarun, I wouldn't take someone's word for it. I'd let time tell.
