ellynandroid: Seriously, guys. He apologised for his past actions, and now you are digging up past actions on an entirely separate forum against him, instead of dealing with it constructively. A 14 year old was selfish and silly (because god knows, that's rare) — and then apologised. Pretty simple, really.

This thread went from good intentions to an absolute mess. I am having trouble seeing any justification for the lengths to which this has gone.
Pretty much this. Sometimes I hate this forum. Did he beg for games anytime since he apologised? No. All posts people found are from the time he was in "yay, people are giving away free games online, gotta take some!" stage.

Now, people here, without any evidence to support that, are saying that his apology is only a disuise to get more free games.

It seems like some people are projecting their own character's on that person.
It IS the season for giving and I am for forgiving...This time! IF his apology is sincere then I accept. Time will only tell.

On a side note this if a rather -giving- site, I can see where some one young could Take advantage of our generosity unintentionally.Lets hope he learns to mend his ways.

Psychology has taught us that it's in human nature to project your own charechter (or som1 elses) onto a person that you do not know very well.

Could it be that your projecting a very honest person onto him and going into the excact same trap that you're accusing others of going into?

apology online? It's more rare than unicorns.

Maybe. But I'm rather on a "there is no evidence to support the idea his apology isn't sincere".

It's the whole thing about apology - it's an honorary thing. If he did that only as a disguise, shame on him. He would be done in my scrapbook forever.

But we don't know that. You didn't even give him a second chance like on some middle ages stakes burning. And it's just a forum about games. Is it really such big deal to piss on a child?

can't see any other reason why...

if he wanted a clean slate, he could just start a new account (he's good at that apparently), silently ask GOG to delete his other accounts and start acting nice, he'd get exactly what he wants that way, without these gestures...

It's a shame that 'society' came to this would be better.

(note to self: never apologise and admit any mistakes on that forum)

nah, don't take me that seriously, I'm just a grumpy pessimist :)

and I honestly don't care if everyone forgives him or not... when someone needs help and I can help, I do it no matter how high his rep is... and when I give away something (and I admit it's rarely) I just throw the code somewhere, I don't condition it with "min. rep" or "oh I know this guy, he's cool, he'll give me something in return one day" - if an a**hole grabs it and doesn't even thank me, I don't care, good for him for being faster than others...
Can an admin please lock this? This is about to be bigger than GRager's thread seige regarding Rep.

This forum is supposed to be better(in all/most ways) than the Steam forums, and it's the majority of it's members above such grudges. Yet not all of them are above such things, sadly.
-------------------
I can understand people thinking/saying he might be a bad person, but I can't sympathize with those saying/almost saying that he IS 100% for certain still a bad person/a scammer/etc.
-------------------
Some are probably also letting their own paranoia(Which is somewhat justifiable given the recent scamming that happened here...to an extent, that is.) get the better of them.

So people are saying he shouldn't have made any alt accounts & dislike that he did it, and your answer to the problem is for him to make another alt account?

Even if they did that/people agreed it was ok/a good idea this one time, i'd wager people would start accusing every newcomer that acted similarly of being him and/or someone would figure out what new account was him and out him while thinking they were right for doing so.

I can't help it. It's those wacky threads that I like most.

Hmm, I think I disagree. Especially at that age. Some traits may be ingrained, but personalities are always adapting.

"I don't like the topic/how it's being discussed(and can't avoid looking at it), and I think it should be gone......mods please do it now."

The topic has been going rather well(if a bit heated at times) and is helping some people(imo) vent in a positive way. It's also confined to one thread, which anyone can avoid if they don't want to read it or get involved. So why lock it?

(Idea: Since some[Not alot but still] like to complain about rep/rep manipulation/the way the rep system is setup/etc why not make this/another new thread a general rep discussion thread and confine all talk about rep to that thread? It seems like it might solves some of everyone's concerns, at the very least.)

We have the optimist and pessimist sides of the debate covered....wheres a realist/etc when you need them? ;)

And those are some good traits to have.....kudos for being such a cool guy in those instances( especially given the scammer troubles recently).

I'm afraid nobody can make a realistic assessment from the info we have available (OP telling us he's sorry)
