To those of you who have it on release date:

Rumor has it that the version that was released on Steam is a dev build. No-clip is activated by pressing Y, files are pdb format, plus there are accusations swirling that this is a 360 port that was used to test the PC version.

I've been playing it for a few hours, and its one buggy nightmare, with graphics options missing, crashes and other weird issues. If it's true that this is a dev release that was pushed out on accident, it might be prudent to wait a day or two before trying it out.

That being said, it is incredibly fun and addictive, I just don't want to get too involved in it when they will likely re-release it soon.
I might wait a bit, although the clip thing can be solved by simply using another keybind from what I read.

Stlil, most people seem to say that despite the bugs it's still fun to play. It's always going to be a console port to some extent.

That's interesting. There is also a rumor of Dead Island being regionally locked or something. Some people from Poland who activated their keys on Steam already reported it activates as "Dead Island Eastern Europe".

Yeah, but to this extent?
I'm still waiting for my retail disc, I wonder if those are affected too?
How do you publish a game by accident? My mind is officially boggled.

You mean the dev build of it? It was scheduled for release today, so they didn't release the full game on accident...just the wrong version :P
The boggleness (bogglity?) still remains.

In that case.. Epicly professional.
I guess someone didn't check to make sure the version they uploaded to Steam said "Version 1.0"

If I was cynical I would say that they were unable to finish the game on time and release "any" version they had hopping to have enough time to finish it before release date.
Wow that is pretty bad.
I suppose it's possible somebody misfiled the retail release or something, but still...
Wow, I don't think I herd about someone releasing the wrong version before :D
I wonder if they will have it sorted by Friday when I can actually play it.
I like the metagaming part

Like almost the all the games now being released. Most bug free game that I have played must be Arkham asylym. (or some good old console games).
