reaver894: I really should try one of these zombie games, either dead island or left 4 dead or some such, any suggestions on a nice cheap one to try?
avatar
Fenixp: It really very much depends on what are you looking for, what do you enjoy in games.
In an ideal word a zombie apocalypse game in which you try to re-esablish a community under constant threat of attacks and needing to venture out into the wastes for supplies etc until I could "farm" and get stuff made within my "community" have scripted events that require me to think and stuff, like so and so might have been infected what do you do.

but ive never come across such a game.

As F1ach has pointed out, if L4D is co-op or MP only then that one goes out of the window.

I think this game pretty much does all that but it's not FPS :(

Sure, I'll let you know when it's near completion since I keep an eye on it ever since its kickstarter campaign finished. I'm really looking forward to it since I'd really like a complex zombie game :D

REVIEW 6/10

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-04-22-dead-island-riptide-review?utm_source=eurogamer&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=net-daily

TL:DR

What makes that so sad is that this feels like a series only a few great decisions away from being really good. A better script with a sense of humour, a bit more imagination in quest design, more coherent inventory management and character development... These things shouldn't be unattainable goals for a developer that must be flush from the unexpected success of the first game. If there is to be more Dead Island - and I wouldn't object to that - then those things must be high priorities for it to avoid another mauling.

For a big budget title it's puzzling to see the game gets old and repetitive pretty fast.
Stop the press,

These 2 are coming:

So, Gamersgate are the same as Steam, insofar as 40$ is the same as 40€, were they always like this? Either way fuck'em.
Same for GMG apparently.
Whats Amazon like to buy, seems they will sell at dollar value?

Publisher sets the value, not retailer - unless publisher is unclear on regional pricing that is.

Thanks Fenixp, any idea on what amazon are like for d/l games? Like can you only d/l a limited number of times? If 6 months later you want to re-download, do you have to pay a fee? Whats patching like etc

Thanks again :)

You'll be hard pressed to find an online distributor that doesn't do this. GOG is the outlier in this regard. Even DotEmu has some really weird conversion methods.

Of course, I forgot Humble Store as well.

Yeah, tbh I never really use any other d/l supplier, eg I bought DI from GMG but it was a Steam code, but I only have about 6 steam games and a couple of GamerGate games that were bought at dollar value, so i'm kinda noob at this, i'll probably get it at amazon, if i need to re-down load later at a fee, I'll probably just get it off a*cough*nother site at that stage :)

Thanks for the reply :)
