I'm just saying that it can hardly be classified as a 'Terrible design decision that makes a terrible game'. it's just a design decision. And as long as the creators didn't do any false advertising in the sense of ''Weapons will last forever once you find them!" you have only got yourself to blame for not waiting until details of actual gameplay surface. It just seems silly to include something like that amongst the complaints of "I feel sorry for preordering" (not saying that the other complaints aren't valid tho), of course the game is going to be different than what you have imagined. It is always going to be. Unless it's 1:1 remake of Pacman.

So since I bought the first dead island at full price you're telling me that i'm not allowed to wait until riptide is at least 75% off? what other reason would you have for telling me i'm so wrong in this? why the disagreement since you yourself aren't even willing to put more than $20 towards it?

Why on earth would I do such a thing? I just felt that it was kind of weird that you've listed 'weapons break easily' amongst 'it's a terrible game' arguments by saying that this bit feels fairly subjective and supplying a few arguments as to why does it feel subjective. I never said you have to buy riptide for the full price. Don't read between the lines in my posts, I'm not clever enough to write there :-P

No, I think he means that since you already got burned once preordering, you should learn the lesson and not do it again and wait until you know more about the game before buying it. He's actually agreeing with you, while letting you know that one of the reasons you gave wasn't appropriate for your complaint.

My reasons are valid to myself, there's no discussion to be had in that, you wanted my reasons and you then attacked them, your only point is to demean my reasoning and make me look like a fool simply for having them. I would consider Fenixp's points to be perfectly valid, I really do think you are misunderstanding his post significantly.

The game had its (minor imo) faults sure, but I musta logged in about 150 hours at least with the game, it had some awesome mods later on, with storms and day/night cycles. I loved the hell out of it, but to each their own :)

That I'm posting some arguments doesn't mean I expect you to roll over and die. It means that I expect you to either post some counter-arguments (as in 'Why don't I like that particular part of the game' as opposed to 'i don't') or, in case you don't want to talk about it, to not reply at all. Instead, you have replied by repeating the same thing you've said in the first place, which is fairly insulting (I'm not an idiot, I got it the first time around.), so I thought that I have unknowingly insulted you in some way - that's the bit where I went on and elaborated, because I do know that replying to a single point of a more complex argument can be insulting.

I have never said I expect you to like what I do, that would be silly. But the very reason why I like discussing ... pretty much anything is to get a deeper understanding of why someone feels as he does, and saying 'I don't' just doesn't cut it.

I have not commented on most of your reasons at all you know. I just said that it's a bad idea to preorder games, especially expensive ones. I was a bit snarky, now that I see that you're not really in a mood for snarkiness, I'm sorry for that.

My not liking that part of the game had nothing to do with preordering either, I talked about the tone of the game, the part where the CGI teaser showed emotion yet the game starts with friggin crunk music and has even less emotion in it than dead rising 2.

Yeah you found it fine, you paid five bucks for it so of course you did. Istated those reasons to show why i'm going to wait until riptide is cheap, for a fiver i'm fine with those issues but apparently that's not fucking good enough for you and worthy of your derision.

Although I had a lot of fun and spent a little more than 50 hours in Dead Island (only with friends), I disliked the lack of tactics and choices. I would have loved to have to make hard choices, choosing a place to settle, accepting (or not!) AI companions, preparing the base's defenses or its replenishing.

Too soon, the characters and quests all started to look alike ; another Fed-Ex quest after another. For all its flaws, Dead Rising was much better at emulating these aspects from Dawn of the Dead.

I guess it's the same for the sequel ?

I really should try one of these zombie games, either dead island or left 4 dead or some such, any suggestions on a nice cheap one to try?

It really very much depends on what are you looking for, what do you enjoy in games.

Well I think L4D is multiplayer only where as Dead Island can be played solo or co-op.
