Didn't watch the trailer, but I have a couple of questions. Will there be mirrors in Riptide? How about stairs that can be ascended and descended without having the sensation that you're traversing a ski slope?

movieman523: It's hard to get into a game that's so tedious to play and so buggy. Even if the weapons breaking after two hits and the zombies respawning right on top of me weren't enough, the stuttering every time you press two keys at once would have killed it for me.

Pheace: That does sound annoying. I was lucky I guess, apart from my thrown disappearing at some point I barely ever saw a bug in the game and it ran smooth.
Same here dont recall bugs to any degree, there was a cheat for duping melee weapons, I think you threw ine and dropped one at the same time (could be wrong about the detail), but there was a dupe.
There were somme cool day/night and storm mods available too.
Dead Island was incredibly boring. Maybe it was less awful with co-op? Eventually I ran into some kind of horrible bug, thanks god, that gave me an excuse to abandon the thing in spite of my somewhat OCD nature.

If you can't guess from the rest of this post, I will not be putting money down for the sequel.
I enjoyed the first game (played a mix of single player and co-op), though regretably I didn't finish the game with all the characters. In fact, I only finished it with one character. Why regretably? Well, I hear that you can import your savegame from the first game into Riptide to continue your character. Thing is, I would like to change the character I played and I don't have enough time to bring my other characters through to the end of the game. Will have to see what level the characters start at in a new Riptide game.
it's one of the most mixed game opinions this gen I think. Some loved it, some hated it or didn't find anything redeeming about it and called it boring. I'm in the camp that loved it. Sure it was unpolished, could have used a block button and a different level scaling system but i loved it none the less after i got i finally running like it should on pc...

djranis: seriously coudnt enjoy the first game, weapons breaks way too much, even a heavy metal pipe after couple of zombies and didnt have much of single player focus
Higher level weapons have much more durability and higher level skills allow you to do more killing with less durability damage sustained. The game is supposed to feel desperate at first, like you might be reduced to fists soon. Kicking and head stomping zombies is also important and this is one of the ways the game tells you so.

Yeah, I had no idea there were quite that many people who had issues with it, it sounds like they didn't play through the game, though, in some cases, because a lot of the issues they're mentioning don't exist past midway through the 2nd area. Some characters are harder to play, I'll grant, Purna is rough early game, she's the most co-op oriented, if you can't solo with Sam B. you have issues, though;)
Greenman Gaming's pre-order deal for Riptide seems pretty sweet. I just might have to take them up on it.

I've never tried their cash back option, anyone ever have any issues with it?

If you check their forum, there are people which don't received the cashback for Bioshock Infinite.
But I think if you contact support, they will fix it, GMG is a good site.
By the way, if there are people that need an account, use this link, so you will received two € on credit after the first purchase:

grviper: You tried playing it without Dead Island Helper? You've got balls!

i hadnt heard about that... although i happily played through it with just few minor glitches. guess i was lucky.
Yay the activation keys showed up from GMG just now. Already preloading. Can't wait, been playing through the first game co-op with some friends again to prepare. ;)

I tried that, unfortunately it crashed every 20 minutes or so.
Got an email from some Polish gaming portal two days or so ago where they mentioned that pre-order retail copies are still available. Totally forgot that the game's release is so close, instantly ordered the game when I got the mail. I wasn't that thrilled about Riptide but now I'm REALLY looking forward to playing it for some reason. :)

That sucks :( Sad how many issues still remain, one of my friends has so many problems every time he plays while i've never had any issue since that initial botched build that got put on steam by mistake.

Yeah, I bought it for the co-op and that's the one thing that doesn't work reliably.
I can play singleplayer for hours, but that doesn't help me much.
