Dang, 11 pages of this. No way I'm reading through it all. ;-)

I have to say, despite having watched pretty much the entire Dead Island game via theRadBrad's YouTube channel (and having enjoyed it), these games seem strangely compelling to me. I like the combining of RPG elements/XP with First Person perspective in a relatively "normal" setting (versus some medieval countryland). If my computer wasn't so old I'd be all over this; hopefully within the next year or so, I'll have an opportunity to finally play. ;)

Side-question: there's no way to play with keyboard and mouse on an XBOX 360, right? It would have been too expensive to implement a hardly-used feature like that? Because I prefer keyboard and mouse, but spending maybe 4-500 bucks on 360+TV and game would be nicer than 1500 on a new PC.

WTF: Nice. I'll check it out next playthrough. I'm replaying original DI right now with Xian. Lots of fun. Will transfer her to Riptide after finishing.
My own impression of imported characters is that it is a bit more difficult, I didnt like all my imports, I think Xian and Logan were the more enjoyable to play though. Xian 'cos she's pretty awesome and Logan because you wont have to be rebuying the shit skills to get to the real skills that make him good.

I use a 360 controller on PC and I havent tried it with a KB/M, but I think it would be way easier with a 360 controller, what ever platform you use.

How is using firearms on pad? I can't think a single reason to choose pad over kb/m, especially since I have very good mouse.

You can pull L Trigger for quick aim or just shoot from the hip, both are fine, at least this game has truckloads of ammo and lots of bombs, Molotovs, mines etc if you want to get creative, unlike the previous game.

Just regards the two control methods, I would think (could be wrong) that driving and boating could be annoying with KBM.

Driving only uses WSAD plus space for handbrake. Boating is a bit annoying bu default, but I quickly remapped boost key for one of my mouse extra buttons, and it's as easy as it can get, so for me it's ok. And aiming a gun is much more precise with a mouse. Only thing I miss is this analog melee fighting. Sounds interesting.

I tried it for about a minute in the first game and didnt like it, some people love it though *shrugs*.
Keyboard and mouse for me. Though I do have a 360 pad so I could try the analogue melee fighting.

Just be sure that if you use the keyboard that you use the Dead Island (Riptide) Helper program. It turns off the keyboard repeat delay whilst the game is running which gets rid of that almost stuttery feeling to the movement. You can do this manually in the Windows keyboard settings but the helper does it for you just whilst the game is running and it provides many other options and fixes.
One thing that REALLY annoyed me....well the only thing so far...

Y'know how in your INV you could have maybe one line with 10 molotovs and another with say 20, in DI you could drop them all and then pick them up, so there would be just one line with 30....
I did that with my 'nades, molos and Exp Mines, picked them up, but all the feckin mines had disappeared.....Really gutted I had farmed about 50 of the buggers >.<

They are probably supposed to disappear after the defences, so, once I dropped them the game probably auto checked and disappeared them, sure they unbalanced the crap out of the game, but crikey they were fun on a stick! :).
Heres something I never knew. While I noticed the quests, i thought they were for Co-Op.
Each character has a number of quests they want you to do for them.
If I'm right, some of them will upgrade their store, while others will upgrade their weapons.
In the menu, just one under your skills, you should find a list of characters.
If they have "Quest Available", select it, and you should get a quest for them.
They usually consist of collecting some items they need to upgrade their weapon, I believe.
They are worth doing anyway.

I mentioned this back at the start of this thread if I'm not mistaken since we missed that originally as well :)

Yeah, says 93%, just wondered timewise, I have Purna at 52% maybe I'll just do those NPC quests with her.
