korell: I hope my keys for the Survivor Pack and Fashion Victim DLCs aren't incorrect too.

F1ach: Survivor pack is a bit of a con I think.

1. You get the shop anyway and its crap.
2. I think I used the BBQ once out of curiosity.
3. The XP boost has me at lv 30 still in the first area with no skills left to buy.
Dude, you can buy off more than one tree...

Okay, now that I've played through several missions is both, the console version is way less buggy. Why do PC versions always have to be such pieces of shit (albeit pretty pieces of shit)?

It's the same game, imported a DI character on PC and played fresh on XBox 360. I will say one will probably find the Prologue fairly unbalanced with a high level import (you don't get to keep your weapons). It's not like you can't get through it, but enjoy beating on the 2 bosses for awhile.

I know that, I have most skills I want off all the trees at lv 35 and I still have 4 points banked and I'm still in the starter area. I think that the XP booster is causing an over abundance of skill points and is seriously unbalancing the game., but I still love the game, just making apoint about the booster :)
Finally heard back from Steam (who are supposedly aware of this issue and able to help). Guess what they've told me? This piece of crap:

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

If there is no CD Key included in the package or you received the wrong CD Key, you will need to return the game to the retailer as soon as possible for a refund or exchange.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Aren't they correct though? Perhaps they could've mentioned publisher as well but Deep Silver is already covering it from the looks of it, and I'd imagine any shops selling would be aware of this issue as well (or should have been told by Deep Silver at least)

No, according to Deep Silver, Steam Support are aware of the issue and are able to ensure the correct game is attached to affected users accounts.

Professor Pew is from Deep Silver.

So they're not giving you a new key after all?

But yeah, I imagine if they have a log that shows which keys are wrongly printed for Dead Island then they could correct it somehow.

Well, my initial support requests went out to Deep Silver Support, GAME and Steam Support. In light of what is happening with Steam's utterly stupid support (every time I've had to use Steam Support they have been completely useless) I'm now awaiting a further response from Deep Silver as they may provide me with a new key.

What bugs do you mean? So far the game seems to work absolutely fine for me aside from this issue:

I'm not sure whether it's a bug - would like if one of you guys could tell me. You know those Dead Zones, the small arenas with the bosses. My question is: is every Dead Zone supposed to activate a "defeat" quest related to a boss? Because the problem is: apparently only one "defeat" quest related to Dead Zones can be active at once and I cleared other Dead Zones before solving the first one I activated. Now only one or two Dead Zones have activated a "defeat" quest for me. Are all of them supposed to do so? Have I run into a bug?

I'm pretty sure the named bosses you're referring to are only in several dungeons not all of them, for me anyway. Mostly it's just loot.

We're about 40% through the game on PC so far (according to story completion) and it's been a pretty smooth experience overall, there's a few bugs but they seem to have carried over from the first game, like picking up a weapon and it then switching your equipped weapon with it, happens way too easily. And also it switches my weapon half the time when leaving the map/quest/team menu screen with escape. (edit: apparently the menu thing is exclusive to me and not the GF so perhaps it's my keybindings)

Other than that it's been fine really.

One thing we did completely miss till just now was that in the team menu we could get quests to upgrade the shopkeepers and group... so the crappy stuff they sold is finally better now.

Much as I dislike Steam (I've had my own issues with their support), I would imagine the problem lies with who ever provided the boxed retail version Deep Silver or Game.

As your initial purchase/contract was with GAME for a particular product (DI:R) and you were sold a different product (DS), you should be allowed to swap it, no questions asked. But in the end its Deep Silvers problem for issuing the incorrect codes, Game should be sorting you out immediately, then taking the problem up with Deep Silver and deducting the value of the faulty products from their payment system.

Hope you get sorted out quickly either way mate :(

The initial problem was down to whoever it was that printed out the activation keys. Deep Silver said so themselves. They then said on that forum post that they had made Steam aware of the issue and were looking for a solution that didn't require the customer to have to take action. Next morning they had worked out a solution with Steam and told customers to contact Steam Support and Steam Support would ensure the correct game is attached to those affected accounts.

Now, Steam Support have failed to do that for me so far, so my contact with Deep Silver has led to them asking for my key and they'll look at providing a replacement key. Don't know if this will come off yet though, so I'm just left waiting. But at the end of the day, Steam know about the problem and have a solution, but the Steam Support guy who has answered my ticket clearly doesn't know about it. >_<

There seems to be targeting and pick up bugs with regards to some containers in the PC version, given that this game is like Borderlands 2 with regards to containers this one can get annoying fast. I've also had some other glitches, though I suppose I shouldn't complain, as PC releases go this one is pretty solid. The XBox 360 release I had one issue where an explosion clipped me through a wall into a room with no exits, since I reloaded a checkpoint about 10 feet away from where I had been that was about 10 seconds of annoyance.

Who can you possibly be playing that you'd only want 35 skill points? I mean, the Survival tree is full of passive boosts, you have all of those and all your preferred combat moves, all your boosts to Fury? Level 70 is pretty high, you can get a lot of skills by then, but at 35 I am skeptical... I also think you might be underestimating what a pair of Butchers are going to do to you around level 55 or so.

You can't get "too many skill points" anyway, it's one per level, the zombies level with you so it's not like the XP boost will hurt the gameplay.

Nevermind, you're playing Sam B as a head stomping tank, that's my guess. I suppose if you only charge and knock small zombies down then play hopscotch on their heads you could get away with fewer points to effectiveness.

No, I'm playing as Purna, I think you are misunderstanding my point, I am saying that it seems that I have way too many skill points for the beginner part of the game, At lv 39, I still havent even gone into the tunnels, I've only just got the re-agents, I just seem to be levelling too fast, sure more skills are great, I just think I am getting them too quickly. :)
One thing that royally annoys me so far: apparently it's possible to skip a few steps of the main quest just by exploring the map. For example I didn't "ask around" for the boat, I just found it, thus skipping the conversation in Halaii. Then I died while on the boat and the quest told me to again board the boat which wasn't even there anymore. Then instead of "looking for a way through the jungle on the boat" I discovered a destroyed bridge when going by car and this apparently triggered the phase that should have ended by looking for a way by boat. Seriously, it's a little messed up. :/ But thank God, it's nothing game-breaking. Still, I hate it when exploring results in triggering and discovering stuff that should be part of the main quest later on.
I had an annoying thing happen today, went looking for the Treehouse for Maggie, found it, went to the cabin beside it for a root around (may have been the drug dealer cabin), came back out and the Thug and a few minions had spawned, killed them, went to my boat and it had disappeared, but tbh thats the only annoying thing I think has happened so far.
