Just a hint:
If you find a hatchet, you can use it as a weapon.

You just need to equip it from your toolbelt. You have to reload the hatchet before you can use it (yeah, i know it sounds silly) x)

i just wonder if DayZ will have a standalone singleplayer no server required mode...

I read a few reviews because I like zombie stuff, but the "frustration factor" everyone mentioned, put me off.

I've been playing it for a while. But after losing my complete gear for two times I have stopped playing and no intention to fire it up again.

The most fun I had when I was playing together with a team anyway. As a lone wolf the game is rather boring in my opinion. It's still great due to its atmosphere. But scavenging for supplies and trying to avoid or evade zombies and bandits is getting kind of repetitive and uninspiring after a while.

But then again, the most nail-biting moment in DayZ has always been the moment when I was firing the mod up. Will I spawn at the location I logged out last? Will I still have all my gear? The mod was still too buggy for me to really dive into it. And the typical clumsy OFP/ArmA controls didn’t help it either.

I think the creator is working on that but it has also spawned some copy cats, I know at least one kickstarter trying the same thing.
