I was hoping to get the original on GOG along with Maniac Mansion. It seems like that isn't happening. Hopefully some copies of the actual games will surface for a while.
I still want the original game to be released on GOG, too!
I want the original. Then I will check out the remake. (Best to go in order from original to Special Edition.)
IMO Day of the Tentacle was one of the best point&click adventure games out there. A remake that brings it into the modern era would be awesome. I just hope they include something the original was sorely lacking, a save feature. So you can save your game and come back to it later.

Why? Original does not necessarily mean the best.
I'm guessing this will be like Monkey Island: SE and will just be an HD update, hopefully with the option to switch to original.

In the original Day of the Tentacle? I'm pretty sure F5 was the save key...
Cool. And nice that Grim Fandango release it dated. With the promise of a point & click interface, finally I'll play it.
Hopefully better artwork than the Monkey Island one.
I would be happy with the original being released here on GOG.
I mean, I just want to play the games. I do not care if it has flashy visuals or pixels if the game play and story are fun.

Yeah. DOTT has a much stronger visual style than Monkey Island, though, so I think we can be optimistic that the transformation will not be so dramatic.
