Played a bit this morning, can't play again till 4th of March. Steam unlocked it "too early" here. Ugh, pointless BS.

Why not? Also, I think he's asking who is the traitor that is canon to the story from Chaos Rising + Ret.

Wait so the canon ending to Chaos Rising is that I corrupted and turned to Chaos?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'd still like to know whether there are any boss battles in this one. As I don't think that I'm willing to go through that farce again.

There are boss battles but they're not quite as much of an "avoid the boss' big spam attack that there's no defence against" chore as they were in DoW2 & CR and they're not in every mission. I've been continuing the campaign with the eldar and so far I've had to take down the ork freebooter kaptin and then destroy an ork convoy which was more along the lines of a defence mission. There was also another mission that had what looked like a boss fight but you ended up winning indrectly.
One thing I really miss with the Eldar is Dark Reapers, I'd have preferred them to the grav platforms. Also I'd have liked to have seen Striking Scorpions replace the Howling Banshees just for a change

Well I just finished the Eldar campaign and I was pretty bloody impressed with how good the whole thing was. 11 missions in total (making 66 for the whole game) with a fair bit of variation and with a level 10 cap for the characters, you have to carefully pick your units abilities to maximise their effectiveness, fortunately I managed to pick stuff that suited my playing style nicely.
My Autarch was brutally dangerous in melee and astonishingly effective as a first strike weapon, giving her plasma grenades and the right skills means she could assault jump deep into the fray dropping a rain of plasma grenades as she goes, as she lands she does a burst of damage, uses a howling bannshee war scream to suppress the enemy whereupon she can throw her triple grenade cluster to the suppressed enemy who can't escape and then jump out again as they detonate, I finished a full mission using her alone, I can see why she was the one in charge.
My Ranger was an elite sniper, able to take down enemies from well outside retalliation range, his long rifle had a very high chance of stunning the enemy as well as making a killed target explode and do splash damage and his skills were set up to the point where he could do a huge suppressing detonation shot with his sniper rifle every few seconds so quite often the enemy would be massacred before they even had the chance to see him.
My Warlock was a mass damage dealer, every point he got went to making him more deadly in either melee or psi attacks. Set the ground on fire to damage enemies on approach, hit them with lightning to slow them down and allow the fire to do its work and then if there were any survivors, they'd get a spear through the face.
My Farseer was kind of useless until I levelled her up properly, she was only really there as a medic & backup melee fighter but once I gave her the right skills, she was a support & stealth master, making people invulnerable, sneaking around permanently infiltrated and using confuse on the enemy to make them attack each other then sneaking away again.
All in all after finishing one campaign, I'm impressed with both the missions and the story, its a definite win

It's a good campaign, but some variety would have been nice. Even if they changed only one or two maps. I noticed that they change the dialog (sometimes) depending on which race you play but sometimes it just doesn't fit. For example, playing as Tyranid while fighting Chaos was pretty much facepalm after facepalm. The Chaos talked to the Tyranids as if they were Space Marines/Imperial Guard/Eldar.
But then again, i've only finished one campaign so far. They very well may have changed a map later in the game.
