Why am I not surprised....seriously

Exactly how much money was spent on promotions and the advertising of this game?

What about the "Day 1 DLC Galore" and the problems at launch? (Hello there Orcrishgamer)

Do you think we will ever see an actual continuation of the story now?
No hope left for Darksiders II ?

The fact that it needed 2 million sales to break even is not an indication that it was selling too few copies, but that they spent far too much money making it in the first place.

This is the problem with modern development - too many people wanting a slice of the pie. Devs, artists, musicians etc. are a necessity, but then come the overpaid voice actors, the shareholders, the management and so on.

The thing is, Simon, I want there to be hope for this game

Darksiders 2 despite all of it's issues was still a great game, I want to see at least 2 more games from Vigil which feature the other 2 horsemen

That doesn't look like it will happen at this point though, which makes me very sad
Yes, let's all proclaim doom and gloom based on supposed figures and not actual figures. Once again, it's important to state that unless THQ release actual figures, any figures you hear about are pure speculation based on incomplete data. After all, digital sales are not fully accounted for as most digital distributors do not disclose their sales information. And worse, physical sales data is only based on sales at specific stores in specific markets.

I agree.

"Probably" ... "estimates" ...

What happened to real gaming journalism.... Oh, yes, I forgot. It always was like this ... -_-

The Darksiders series is actually a pretty entertaining game series. It's not ground breaking, but I enjoyed the games. I actually bought an XBOX 360 controller for my PC just for those two games. I also got somewhere around 40 - 50 hours of gameplay out of the second game (in a single playthrough - not newgame+), so it wasn't exactly a ripoff.

That's true. Quoting Michael Pachter is not exactly the most journalistically reliable thing to do either.

Still, whether the claim holds water or not, my point above still remains.

The sadder thing is that Joe Madureira, the co-founder of Vigil and the creative director of Darksiders' games had left the company recently. And that I think is the definite sign that there aren't going to be anymore Darksiders games.
to up the sales in today's gaming.

Most have an option for mods.
Not so linear.
Not so console. Aimed for the pc market as well. Graphics is so ridiculous in this game.
No WoW character/environment design.

It's true....

Fuck my life
I really enjoyed the game, It's a shame if it affects the series being continued.

EDIT : Just noticed that the link is to VG, not the most accurate of companies, so hopefully its just their usually inaccurate attempt at counting shit as usual.

Its sad when really good games are not profitable enough. I hope this does not mean no Darksiders 3 because it would be a shame.
a bigger bust than this was max payne 3 , ask rockstar , they must be rushing back to gta 5 to recover their loses now
