EDIT: To further clarify, I have no idea if Darklands is going or not, but it is an Atari game, and I thought: Why not have a contest just in case? So there you have it. I hope you will enjoy the contest either way.

So its been awhile since I did a "real" contest. But Darklands may be soon leaving the realm of GOG and so I have come again.
What I have: 3 gift codes for Darklands.

What do you need to do to get one?
I have found that little satisfies me more than the creation of something I enjoy creating. So, I would like you to enjoy this contest (win or loose) by creating me one of the following, choose whatever one you like best:
1. Paint a picture using a paint program IE: Gimp (which is free and I recommend you try if you haven't).
2. Write a short story (500 words max)
3. Tell me an AWESOME original joke (sorry Vagabond "poop" just doesn't do it for me anymore)
4. Write a poem (again short, say 300 words max)
5. Finally in tribute to Darklands, you can create an RPG character, list their name, traits/personalities, backstory, stats, skills, etc, make it fun, just not too too long. (EDIT: To clarify, it can be in any world/game, or anything you make up in your complex human brains, it's up to you.)

Please don't insert something you have already done, or worse, something someone else did. This should be your creation that you do for this contest alone. Further, only one entry per contestant. Now, say you decide to write an awesome little tale and include a pic you drew up for it, well that would okay. It just must be in one entry and on the same subject (don't overdo it though, eh). I will let this contest go till sometime Friday. I could make it a bit shorter or even a little longer. I'm like that! :D The key is don't wait, create, post and maybe get Darklands before it's too late!

Human Male, Age 27, height 6'4", brown eyed with short, messy, dirty blonde hair.

Born under a warrior father, this man would grow up lost from his family early on. After years separated, his younger brother would be found following the ways of a demon hunter, and determined to do honor to his family followed the same path. While not as strong or as talented a fighter as his brother, the elder brother learned a powerful but dangerous ability of in-human levels of speed in his travels, which causes harm to his body when relied on.

Weapon: Multi-Capable, great-sword Preferred.
Armor: Light brigandine under a leather-coat.

Health: Low
Defense: Medium-Low
Strength: Medium-High
Endurance: Medium
Speed: Very High
Agility: Very High
Intellect: Medium
Stamina: Low
Perception: Medium-High

Skills: Instantaneous Reflex - Provides a very high chance of avoiding an oncoming blow, in exchange for receiving a 3 HP loss per dodge while active, and a 40% penalty to all damage taken. Health loss cannot cause character death and will deactivate if character has less than 3 HP.
Blade Flurry- Throw multiple projectile or explosive weapons in a 90 degree arc in front of the character, or focused on 3 foes, with random loss to stamina, ammunition required for this attack.
Wild Blow- Perform 2 Critical Strikes in quick succession in a 180 degree arc in exchange for 25% of max HP.
Desperation- Perform 5 Critical Strikes in quick succession on one target. HP reduced to 15% of maximum, or reduced by 50% of current, whichever results in lower HP, and all stats receive a random penalty for 5 minutes or duration of battle, which ever is longer.
Whirlwind Strike- Perform a 360 degree strike for 3 hits on all foes in range in exchange for a 3 round penalty to Agility, and all abilities locked from use for 5 rounds.

All abilities cause degradation of footwear by 5% of max, minus Blade Flurry. Abilities can not be used without footwear.

No indeed, it doesn't have to be in any specific world or game. No cage for creativity here, well if there is one, it's cozy hopefully! ;P

In any case, I'm in with a little poem:

DARKLANDS
In the dark lands in times of yore

I awoke abruptly to the loud sound of water, like it was being drained away from a from all the lakes and oceans at the same time. What does that even mean? I opened my eyes slowly for what felt like the first time and It was so dark, if it was even possible to be darker than if my eyes had remained closed. I didn't have time to figure it out as some unseen force started to push me away from where I rested. What is happening?
I saw something bright way way way in the distance, it wasn't hard to miss with all the pitch black around me. My instinct should have been to go towards the brightness but it penetrated my eyes like the power of 1000 suns and I was very fearful of it. But it didn't matter since this unseen force was moving me towards that brightness. NO! I think I screamed but don't know if that sound was me or some echo from this enclosed space I found myself in.
The brightness kept getting larger little by little and I know I was moving towards it but it seemed like it was taking hours and the longer it took, the more scared, the more tired, and the more I began to accept my fate. I had long since stopped struggling and was letting nature take its course with what it had in store for me. And oh god, what is that smell? Please, I cried to anyone listening, I just want to go back to how things used to be!
As I slowly inched closer to the white light, I could see shadows moving often on the other side and some noises like I had not heard before, but occasionally some familiarity broke out in that noise that comforted me in short spurts. I knew I needed to find out those familiar sounds to help me.
Who knows how much time had passed now? Do I even understand this concept of time? I just knew that my world as I knew it was in chaos around me. The walls were closing in on me by now and so I completely stopped struggling and finally gave in. I started to squirm towards the brightness myself. As soon as I did that, relatively quickly I found myself right at the edge of this brightness. As dark as it was before, it had changed to complete whiteness. I took a deep breath, let out what to me was a mighty yell and crossed over to see what new and exciting journey awaited me....

I LOVED darklands when I played it as a kid, though it was hard. I really would like to play it again!

Nothing is confirmed, people are just being hysterical girls. Darklands wasn't even on Atari's auction list for the 16th.

Relax my fellow GOG members, I do not know if this great game will be leaving or not. It is an Atari game (presently) and was on the list with the others in the weekend promo. Whether it will be here or not seems ambiguous. So, I decided to take advantage of the great promo price and have this contest, just in case this would be the last opportunity to do so. Sorry if I startled you! I just remember when I found out Space Rangers 2 was gone and how disappointed I was (though I do have it on disc luckily!), I wanted to save three people from the Possible horror of never getting to play Darklands. ;)
