When you kill the Orc shaman at the Spider Temple, he drops a key, it fits the door locks with the spider insignia on them.

Is there any point in going back through the level to open the other spider locks are (the goblin section for example), is there any decent loot I may have missed?

Cheers :)

Nope, not that I know of. There is 1 secret behind a locked door but you have to use a secret entrance to get to it.

Also, grats on choosing an awesome game :)

Interesting question. I'm actually around that part as well, but that thought never crossed my mind. Goes to show how little I care about the secret areas of this game.

Well, I played it before, so I knew what to expect, but there are still new things in it for me, eg. I never met the Cyclops before iirc. I also got a cool Winter Bow from the lift shaft that I didnt see before.

But yeah, its a pretty awesome game, I like the fact that when you get killed it doesnt piss you off, its just that it makes you more careful when you reload, so you can strategise more and use the many tools the game gives you, for example I never knew (until I saw a loading screen tip), that you could smash Oil Jars on the ground, making a handy fire trap, when enemies approach.

Thanks for the replies guys :)
I loved this game

I want it on GOG, Come on Ubisoft, stop messin' around and deliver the goods!

It was on GG for 2.50 or something like that, i used Blue Coins to pay for it.
I'm currently playing Dishonored and can gladly report that Arkane hasn't lost its touch.

I think finding the secret areas in this game adds a further dimension, like getting that Winter Bow I mentioed earlier, I never found it the last time, I just happened to be looking in the right direction at the right time, to see the alcove as the lift rose up.

Hope you are enjoying it your way too though :)

I thought you meet two cyclopses during the storyline, one in some cave/arena and another one in a city. Is there a way to avoid them?

There's also a 'hidden' one in the temple, I'm not quite sure anymore about how to triger him. Maybe it's just about entering a certain area off the main path.

I know of 3 total. 1 at the very start in the city, 1 in the temple (in a room with goblins, you run into the rooms and they run away screaming while the cyclops breaks into the room), and the last one is in the city again.
Ah, ok. I think I meant the second and third one, I do not remember the first one, but maybe I met him as well. Anyway, F1ach probably meant a hidden cyclops (if there is one, as Fenixp indicated).

Yes, its apparently an optional boss in the spider temple.

As regards those spider locks I mentioned earlier, I went back and checked them out at the goblin walkway area, there were some decent items there.

one of the rooms can be accessed earlier through a broken wall and I think it held a fire staff, but the doors you open with the key contain :

Arcana Robes, daggers (lightning I think) and a Staff that has a melee bonus, they were are good items, I guess the robes were the only thing of use to me though.
