Why does everything has to be interpolated into another entertainment medium nowadays? Come up with your own damn original IPs and leave the classics be dammit!

Wishbone: No, and he doesn't do cute little musical acts with living gargoyles in the book. What's your point? One is misrepresenting the original material at one extreme end of the spectrum, and the other is doing the same at the other end. I don't see why you think there's a difference. You'd be fine with "Disney's Dante's Inferno" then?

"Walt Disney pictures in association with Nintendo proudly present Dante's Inferno: A cute cuddly animated adventure where 2 zany italians go to hades to teach the underworld how to love through kindness, good manners and choreographed dance numbers! Starring Mario as Dante, Luigi as Virgil and Princess Peach as Beatrice"

Grog: I respectfully disagree :)
Disneyfication is one thing, turning Dante into a goddamned John Rambo is another.
You don't see Quasimodo picking up a double barrel shotgun and start shooting things at random in the Disney movie.

Wait, which spectrum has tragic and cute at one end and intellectual and fucking retarded at the other?
The EA catalogue?
According to CVS:
"the tale of Dante and his journey through the twisted, menacing nine circles of hell in pursuit of his beloved Beatrice."
It sounds more like "Donkey Kong meets Gears of War" to me.

Weclock: But mostly this seems like they're trying to turn this book, into a christian game, for the hardcore video game players.

I'm not sure where you're getting that part. I haven't read anything about the game that suggests it.

It's a Christian book, following the storyline, it would make it a Christian game.

As much as Doom is a Christian game, since it also uses Christian mythology. Does it really matter? You make it sound as if the purpose of the game is to convert people to Christianity, which I highly doubt. Do you mind the use of religious mythology in games? I can think of several great games that use it.

Well, they've obviously not going to follow the story at all, so maybe calling it a christian game is out of bounds. But part of the part of Dante's Inferno is perhaps while reading it one might feel a little guilt.

Why would you?

Shoelip: Hamlet
Young Prince Hamlet of Norway must defeat his evil uncle King Claudius who has usurped his father's throne through a pact with a sect of evil necromancers. His only allies are Ophelia, a beautiful but fierce warrior maiden promised to him since birth, and her brother Laertes, a happy go lucky bard with a penchant for trouble. Together they must defeat Claudius's undead armies and banish him back to the abyss. Only then will the mystic land of Norway be freed from tyranny!
Featuring Leonard Nemoy as the voice of Guildencrantz Rosenstern, the monstrous warrior with two minds, torn between good and evil, who appears for about 10 minutes and then you kill him.

I'd pay to see a movie like this:

Well if one fails to separate the fantasy from reality, or is Christian and still believes in the core values, people in hell aren't all bad people. They could have done absolutely fabulous things for the rest of humanity.
So the point is to make christians realise that their god is an arbitrary egotistical dick who's only interested in people when they're kissing his arse?
Sounds like an actor...

Depends which sect's core values your talking about.

None. One has cute song-and-dance numbers at one end and gun-toting maniacs at the other. Don't know where you got the other stuff from.

You said that doing Dante's Inferno as EA is doing it is like the Disney version of The Hunchback of Notre Dam except on the opposite end of the spectrum.
If that's the case, that means that one of them is on one end of the spectrum along with it's original and the other is on the other end along with it's original. Therefore the Hunchback end of the spectrum has cute song and dance numbers along side tragedy, while the Dante's Inferno end has a deep and detailed depiction of hell along side stupid shit. What's this about gun toting maniacs?
