EDIT: Congratulations, spinefarm! Enjoy Daikatana!

An Ion Storm's a-brewin', and you'll never make it without your buddy Superfly.

That's where I come in. I had some blue coins to spare, and it showed up 75% off on GamersGate, so I happen to have a copy of Daikatana I'm giving away right now. Given this games' reputation, I don't expect a whole lot of takers. Just tell me why you want Daikatana and I'll choose who gets it. If you happen to have 2500 blue coins just lying around, be awesome and give a copy away here too, or just get it for yourself.

You've heard it called "The worst game ever made". People are still mocking John Romero a decade later. It was released as a broken mess, and still has a myriad of problems and an obvious case of "rushed out the door", despite several years of time in development. But, how many today can honestly say they've actually played it?

If you've ever wondered why you can't leave without your buddy Superfly, if you've always wanted a shotgun that could propel you up high and glide you across long distances, wanted to play an FPS/RPG with an eastern flair, time-travel, hilariously incompetent party members best left guarding the door, that takes you through four different places in time, complete with their own arsenal of unorthodox weaponry, secrets to find, and enemies to fight, that even includes some arguably great Quake-style death match, now's your chance.

Below is a zip file enclosed with various files that I heavily encourage downloading. First is the patch, that updates to the latest version. The least subtle addition is the option to save whenever you like instead of using the save gem system. Just install the game, replace daikatana.exe with the enclosed version, and use the patcher to update to 1.2. It also includes the IonRadiant editor and multiplayer map packs.

Daikatanatron for me :D
To be honest I want to see this game on GOG just for the sexy cover :D

If I knew that this is coming to GG as a deal... i wouldn't spend my last BlueCoins on the Mount & Blade Complete

Did you just mix the name of Daikatana with the blessed, holy name of extreme awesome-game-ness: Deus Ex? Shame on you!

Still, good work on the giveaway;)

Wow, you would've gotten Daikatana instead of Mount & Blade Complete? I've gotta say, that's pretty impressive. You're also the first and only person to participate yet, so I think we have a winner. Here's hoping you enjoy Daikatana as much as I have. :D
Ty I guess I'll buy this piece of shit just to see what it's like for myself. Just like that time I watched Santa Claus Conquers the Martians....

It's an inside joke. "The Great Ion Storm of the Century", where both Daikatana clash and merge all of the worlds into one, resulting in a very, very strange crossover. ;)

I think Daikatana is more of the Star Wars Christmas Special type quality...
No, I'm too late!

Daikatana is one of those games I'm intrigued and horrified by. I don't want to play it, but... it's Daikatana.
I can safely say Mr. Romero never got to make me his bitch and probably never will.

LOL

Sadly, there are people that like that movie. And I'm sure there are people that like Daikatana. I may even like it. So, you may be right. I've never met anyone that like SCCTM.

Shit. I love bad games and I can't even bring myself to install this. I even have a retail box and all.

DO IT. I have the strategy guide, it's a very nice guide with insight from John Romero, who even reviewed it on Amazon, but I only have a jewel-case copy of Daikatana and a loose copy of Daikatana 64 (Now THAT'S a bad game!). I dream of the day I can actually get my hands on the GBC version of the game. If you're going to let it rot, give it to somebody who would appreciate having it on their mantle. ;)

If you love bad games, you'll love Daikatana. Seeing as it's nowhere near my top 100 worst games (Or possibly even 1000. I've played a LOT of terrible, horrible games.), you might be disappointed that it's not quite as terrible as you might expect it to be.

Yeah, was just watching a video review of it. I was possibly being a bit optimistic when I said I might like it...
Why do I want Daikatana?

First, it seems to work in Wine and CrossOver, so I could play this on the Mac. For a student of technological history like myself, this game has the dubious distinction of being possibly the only Windows game in history that launched a petition to prevent it from being ported to the Mac (after talk of a Mac port was rumored).

But I guess in my own way, I'm fascinated with failure. I too lived through a project that I led which was launched under very lofty expectations, only to see it in the end utterly collapse under the weight of both my hubris and the project's own bloated sense of ambition. Where did I go wrong? Where did Romero go wrong? There are a whole lot of answers to be had for this - and maybe in some way I could learn a little bit more about the mistakes I've made, and how to avoid them.

That and I'm just morbidly curious about some of the gaming industry's more salacious stories.
