Tormentfan: With a subject a controversial as religion, the reason for 'rage' is pretty much built in and inseparable.
Maybe, but you most likely wouldn't call someone, say, a "Buddhafag" in real life (other than maybe a quick jest). The internet is really a "second life" for many people, so learning restraint and courtesy online is seriously needed. Probably won't happen until we get surrogates or something we're why actually have to speak face to face with people.

I think maybe I'll try to go against the grain here and create a thread called "If you are not an atheist, what are your beliefs?" (Certainly not to make them rage, but to give those with different views a place to at least share them, like an interfaith seminar or something.) We shall see how long all-around respect can last there.

The vast cause of internet 'rage' is everyday opinion.

jamyskis: He's right about it being a common occurrence on the internet though. Most of us in real life are actually capable of holding civil and reasoned discussions with people holding opposite views about religion and other controversial topics without descending to personal insults or exclusion.

It's just a shame that 95% of the internet is seemingly unable to do this.
I still wouldn't say that heated religious 'debate' is any more prevalent than everyday bitching, in fact, tbh, I see it as a very small part of the overall immaturity (of which I can certainly be guilty of) that contaminates forum in general.

It's as if all the etiquette and social manners, we as a species, evolved over thousands of years, were all suddenly dropped down the toilet since the advent of the internet... and it's just going to get worse, unfettered humanity never improves on it's own.. it has to be guided, sometimes forcefully, and there's no one left to do that.

what does hiding the post do? The title is the thing that can be considered most offensive, and that's still visible on the forum
chroot chroot chroot chroot chroot
This remind me of a song by Anti Nowhere League.

I think as the forum continues to grow and GoG gets bigger they may need to start looking at a few moderators to keep an eye on the forum.

Dump / delete threads like the one yesterday that was saying Pirate all 3 Mass Effect Games for example, remove inflamatory remarks from threads to stop bickering etc.

The explanation is really simple.
People on the internet can get away with something that would result in getting slapped in real life.
i agree with a few new mods just to help keep the clutter down on pointless threads. Gog continues to grow and sadly as a result we will get the occasional troll or two but let us not detract from the fact that 99.9% posts are genuine and help the forum along
This thread is clearly mislabeled. No references to Gropecunt Lane at all.
CAN CAN CAN CAN CAN CAN

Roman5: Now all that's left to wait is to see how long it takes for the Moderators to change the topic title
And what they change it to. I vote for:
