bansama: Whichever offers the best price or gets it first.
Odds on GOG not getting it first. :/

Registrations are disabled so you cant buy it right now

johnki: Likely none. It has an account based system similar to Minecraft from what I can tell, meaning all sales will probably be through the main site.
Then I can happily never play it. It's not a must have title for me.
And its still down!!
Still?!
Glad I managed to get a copy last night... though I registered an account as soon as the new site went live
People cant register in first instance to buy it. Wonder how much potential $$$ dev is losing right now lol

F1ach: Thanks for the link, my kids would like this alot, do you know if you can have different "profiles" on one PC? So they could both play.
Or if I buy it once, could I put it on 2 laptops?

+1 for the linkage anyway :)
Check if it runs on your computers before buying it (there's a download demo).

It won't run on either of my computers as they have Intel graphics cards and, bizarrely, they're not supported.

It looks absolutely amazing though. Would have been an insta-buy for me, but no go as it won't run on my computers :(

All sales will be through their site. It won't be on Steam, Desura etc. He's running it like Minecraft (and why wouldn't he?) It's going to be HUGE, so why give Steam, Desura or GamersGate a cut?

BTW, it's an open-world RPG with thousands of quests, random world generation, and the world's are infinite. Replayability on this is going to be ridiculous and attention to detail is something you'll rarely see like this in any game. You can even tame your own fighter pet :)

I doubt he's worried. The guy is going to be a multi-millionaire in a matter of weeks, IMO.

Yogscast has several million views on the game on videos that just went up and everyone I know is desperate to buy it. His servers are getting Denial of Service attacks, though -- probably some Minecraft FanBoy who thinks he 'ripped off Minecraft', so he's having to shut down the site every few hours.

It's just one guy and his wife. For fucks sake, give him a break and don't be a complete tosser.

The fact that they can't cope with server load (or an alleged DDoS) is a pretty good example of why they need to go through a store. The fact that people can't actually buy the game and they are, thus, losing money, is another pretty good reason why.

Minecraft got away with it because they actually had decent servers.

I wrote to Wollay a day or so ago stating he should hire more servers and I'd even put money toward it with no hidden agenda, but I've heard nothing back. At all. Servers aren't that expensive from what I've heard, especially if you just want to hire some for a bit

It sounds to me like they simple got far more demand than they ever expected and don't have a clue as to how to cope. Again, a good reason for going through a store. Still, that's mighty fine of you to make them such an offer - I take it you've played the game?

Yes, I have the game and I'm playing it right now :D It's brilliant and in a really polished state for an Alpha. Put it this way... I played it for 10 hours straight yesterday >_>

I like to help things that have potential. This game has so much potential it's not funny

Well, it does seem much like Minecraft for me, but that comes from being...voxel based? (although there are other games which don't look so cube-y).

I don't know if I'll ever play this. Minecraft didn't draw me in and even if this game should have some decent quests/story, I guess the graphics would kill it for me.

Then you can tell me more about the story...is there a storyline? Or just quests?

Even though it's block based, there are no edges [grid] between blocks. The landscape kinda looks like plastic or some sort of plasticine. It's pleasant on the eyes and cute as hell

Currently there is no story and I'm not sure if there is one planned (I haven't looked/checked). There are missions available and also places (crossed swords) marked on the map where you may be given instructions when you get there to kill the boss inside for a reward (the only way to get platinum coins to upgrade your weapon/armour to your current power level)

A wealth of information can be found at https://picroma.com/cubeworld
