Looks like I'd enjoy CW3, so a big I'm in for me. Thanks.
i would like to join i have the first 2 games
never finished part 2 but this one looks more like the first one
I'd never heard of this series, it look intriguing! I've now clicked the wish list and Greenlight :)
Please count me in for a chance for a copy.
I'm in, never tried the series but it looks interesting and any series that has fans that rabid can't be all bad.

I will try to tone SirPrimalform down a bit
Not in! Because I already plan on buying the trilogy. But I agree the game deserves more attention. That's all I got.
I tried the flash demo of the first one and it was okay. Nice concept, but I could see it getting dull quickly and the endgame get a bit tedious as you knew you'd win but had to slowly advance. The second one was a surprise as very different and it introduced right at the start some nice ideas like the anti-creeper and all sorts of fun physics twists and so on. Very enjoyable and a different pace and all sorts of new challenges and level designs.

The third one looks awful like the first one again, which makes me wary and I've not heard a lot about it.

I would like to know the back story or fluff for this world. Does it change or retcon with each release? Do all the obvious questions get answered (like why everything wasn't one blob of creeper millennia before if this stuff is ancient and where it came from?).

Don't count me as an entry as if I think it's worth while I'll get the complete set from the developer or an outlet.

the main difference between 2 and 3 is that the perspective is top-down again. Most of the things from CW2 is carried over to CW3, and a few others are added (moste noteworthy is air support and flying units.) Granted much of the maps is not so much a matter of whether you will win or not, but how fast you can win. This especially is true with the more random generated maps. The story maps are interesting and varied, and there are some very challenging maps in the Tormented Zone and Alpha Sector (some deemed impossible to beat by the community... take a look at this, for example http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?topic=14333.0). But part of the challenge in CW games is that it is just as much a score attack as it is a matter of winning

Kind of, yes. CW 3 tries to tie together the storylines from 1 and 2, and even does try to explain the same question you pose here. I do not want to spoil it much... it did remind me a little about Mass Effect series, in a way.

Thank you for all that info! I had meant to say "looks awfully like" rather than "looks awful like" in that last post of mine, BTW, in case anyone thought that was a criticism.

I think I'll miss the perspective of CW2 and the ability to play more with the depth and digging, but if CW3 has learned lessons and offers more of that sort of flexibility I guess I can always enjoy CW2 and CW3. Hopefully if this is a hit we might see more. Normally I don't like tower defence games as they seem unoriginal and boring now, but this has clearly had a lot more creative effort and thought behind it than most games.

I heard it was an all new engine too. How well does that run on lower end systems? Does the new engine allow for more features or modding this time around?

Diggin is out, unfortunately, due to the top-down perspective it do not work as a gameplay feature anymore. There is a new terraforming unit, which you can use to lower or rise ground, but it is an energy drain and it is slow (because it is such a powerful tool). But mining and anti-creeper is in.

Yes, it uses Unity now, so it depends on whether your machine is happy with it or not. I ran it without any problems on a very low spec machine.

Modding is much more powerful, this time, due to the new engine. It comes with some scripting tools (no idea how it works, I am not a programer...) which allows you to change the nature of everything, even make your own units and mobs. In Alpha Sector there are maps which bear no resemblance to CW at all, one of them is a puzzle where you need to push buttons in correct order, reminiscent of a Towers of Hanoi game. It also comes with a Dial-A-Map feature, where you can set parameters and let it generate random maps for you,, you can then share those seeds, if you want.

Granted, it is still not easy to share user created maps (except the DAM maps), it is scheduled to have an way to browse and download maps in the next update (it is the section called Colonial Space on the main menu)

MOAR AWARENESS!
I've now tried the CW3 demo and it seems a better game than the first one. Engine seems a bit smoother and more friendly too. I think CW2 and CW3 are different enough to exist side by side really. The story unfolding is interesting, if a bit of a tease and drip feed. They've certainly gone for a long history or backstory.

Is it possible to tell the anti-creeper sprayers to spray non stop like in CW2 and pile it up or do they only spray in reaction to nearby creeper like the turrets?

Only in reaction to nearby creepers. However, you can upgrade range, and if you manage to get a sprayer in a energy zone, you can get them to cover a lot of the map.
Thanks for this fine opportunity of a giveaway.

im not in this one however!
