you can fill a gift code in with 0, so they allow it. if its used is a second.

also what about transforming them into some sort of l33t code. like 0 = O 2=z, 5=s etc
etc. could also be the 74 from the first section and substract 52,25,32,23 from another section. but then again the answer should be simple...

If you are talking about gift form then yes, you can type 0 (zero) in here. AND also you can type ANY character here - does that mean that @ or # are allowed? No.
