He/she means the ORIGINAL Alone in the Dark not the *ahem* reboot...

Thanks . . . I'm a she, and yes, I was talking about the 1992 version, crappy graphics and all.

Sorry for the he, I got used to speak it since a lot of users here are male. ;)
About Alone in the Dark, it's a famous game and pretty much the one that ignited the survival horror genre, but later the titles went to consoles and not on PC.
So if GOG has the actual chance to get it, I'm sure they'll be smart and do it.
The later Alone in the Dark entries were pretty feh, but the original, despite its horrendously dated graphics, holds up pretty well as a fun little creep show. There are some seriously freaky and inexplicable things going on in Derceto.
I just looked up Outcast, apparently it's a freeroaming sci-fi ShooteRPG?
Sounds delicious. :B

I think the first Alone in the Dark was the only game where you could die by reading a book....

Well, that explains where most of my friends got the bibliophobia...

Loved the original Alone in the Dark. The first survival horror game I played and paved the way for Resident Evil much later, probably one of the first 3D polygonal games as well. In fact some moments of Resident Evil 1 seem inspired straight off Alone in the Dark, like the dog crashing into the window in the attic in Alone in the Dark and the dog crashing in behind you in the corridor in RE1.
Would love to replay it again, gave many memories.
I must admit, I hated the original Alone In The Dark, and as a consequence, never played any of the sequels.
It was the useless fixed camera angles that did it. When someone's firing at me from behind a hedge, and I can't move the camera to see where they are and shoot back, I get frustrated.
Man, I love the first 3 Alone in the Dark. My favorite one being Alone in the Dark 2. I finished it countless times, and by countless I really mean countless. I still have the original CD here.
I never figured out how to actually play the first AitD - I always got killed by the first polygon collection that smashed through the window in the attic. (Was it an attic?) By the time I figured out how to run it was far too late.

Still got the CDs of the old trilogy (and trying to finish AITD: TNN on my old PSX). Love them.
Would gladly re-buy them (especially if it's a trilogy pack). I always wondered how the English version was like.

Are you sure that was the first game? I don't remember there being a scene like that in the original - almost all enemies fought hand-to-hand, and I'm almost certain there were no hedged areas (the entire game takes place within and below the Hartwood mansion). The third game, however, opens with Carnby facing off against a group of zombies with machine guns. :/
Personally, I hate countdowns of this sort. This is precisely the thing that turns me away from websites. Either you have something and are proud enough to tell us about it -- and if it is THAT awesome, cool excellent, let's rock and tell the world. But a countless bloody countdown with a countless bloody tag-line ? No thanks.
As such, no matter what hits when the countdown is over, I will not buy it. I might have, otherwise.

We already know what is being released.
Even when that's not the case, though, the countdown is still based on the schedule, not the other way around.
