Hello, i was wondering if this would ever be possible.

Now i understand that there are quite a few games that my topic covers,personally speaking i am meening their portable games, the game boy titles, even more so gameboy advanced titles.

It is quite difficult to get these games without the aid of ebay and its all secondhand, i do own a wii but the titles are very select and don't realy touch their old portable games.

What i would like is to be able to play these titles on the pc, which is far more convienent.

As a customer i would buy these, the old pokemon titles, marios, zeldas, metroids etc that may soon become unplayable as they are not only not in manufacture but they are becoming increasingly difficult to aquire.

My first games machine was a portable gameboy, i have alot of fond memories with it :)

I am sure their are other people here that would feel the same, possibly they may be more geared towards they tv consoles.

Now i understand the difficulties in doing this, its just to me these would be good old games, to everyone else who are in their 30's+ this may not be the case but as i am in my 20's these games were the ones that got me doing the whole computer game thing,

I would realy love somewhere i can buy these games on the pc fully ported and legal.
As if i am correct there is no other way to do so without breaking the law.

Well, given that Nintendo have their own Virtual Console service which they haven't (yet) released GBA games on, what makes you think they'd be at all inclined to license them to someone else?

I would have suggested that, but he wants a way of buying them, not just a way of playing them.

To the OP: Since the games are far from in production any more and there's no way of buying them new, I wouldn't judge you for just downloading the ROMs and playing them on VisualboyAdvance.
If Nintendo makes them available in the future, you can buy them then.

Emulators are illegal. But I don't think there are many people who would want to pay real money for NES games other than all times classics like Mario or Zelda.

But some Nintendo all stars pack? Why not!

I recall staff members indicating that they were toying with this idea. The big issues would be regarding publisher support and price points.

Well, i am not particularly sure on emulators, infact it is the first i have heard of one used, maybe i should look into this.

Its just there is a market for these games.
Yes Nintendo has its virtual service but it requires a wii, i do have one yes but i would prefer it on the pc, that way i can take the games anywhere, without the need for a tv and console.

I do understand in terms of licencing it is an incedible long shot for anyone but nintendo to sell their old games, however if somewhere did for the pc, it would make money and being that the games are good, they are also very hard to get, why waste resources, i thought if a company could make money releasing old titles on the pc would be a good way to keep money flowing in,

i don't think i am communicating my point very well here but the way everyone is answering, it seems that the opinion is either to pirate or tough. I realy just wanted some support for the idea, is it not worth a try? If GoG managed to get permisson to sell these games, surly it would drive more customers towards this site, double the amount of games on the service and give another option to pirating for those us wanting to stay above board, being that piracy seems to be my only option.

GOG has a lot of problems getting ye old PC releases in a DRM free state here on gog, considering that almost each and every game has at least a few rights holders. Getting Nintendo on the DRM-less bandwagon would mean serious adaptation on their part, something I just don't see happening. Or to put it another way:

I don't think the emulators themselves are illegal - I think it's only considered illegal if you use a ROM/whatever for a game that you don't own for that console yourself = piracy.

Nintendo have never released emulated games on PC to my knowledge, so that seems unlikely. Emulated Sega Megadrive games seems pretty likely when Sega come aboard.

And that's exactly what Nintendo wants. Nintendo is a hardware manufacturer, they won't sell their games on PlayStation or XBox, so why on earth sould they sell them on PC, which is a competitor as well? It's the same reason why Apple doesn't want you to install Mac OS X on any PC. It's not about selling Mac OS X, it's about selling Macs.

Basically, if you want Nintendo games, buy a Nintendo console.
