At least hundreds different people never recieved a prize for EA's crossword even though their answers where correct.

Yes, the Beyond Good and Evil caption is mistake as it doesn't follow rules of contest but I have no problem with it and even if it was disqualified I don't find your entires funny. Remember it's subjective thing. You might find them hillarious but I don't and it seems neither does Galimaties or whoever picked the winners.

man, those are pretty bad.

freezinghazard: So it's fair play that a winner used a beyond good and evil screenshot? And you seriously agree with the paint winners? I'm missing something here or you guys are being blinded and defending a brand that does not care about you.

da187jimmbones: Could the Beyond Good and Evil selection have been human error, instead of an intentional disregard for their customers? Does the inclusion of that one selection really lead you to conclude that the gog owners "[do] not care about you"? That seems like a really big jump in logic to me.

If the winners were randomly selected, then in order to satisfy you, they would have had to kick out some of the people who won randomly and replace them with the people who spent a lot of time working on submissions. That seems like corruption to me and morally wrong. What is morally right is for gog to follow the rules of the contest by selecting random winners.

Furthermore, where do you draw the line when it comes to whether someone spent enough time on an entry? How do YOU know how much time other people spent on their entries? Maybe some people made like 10 entries that took them 3 hours to make all 10, but then that person decided only to use one. It's entirely possible that the people who just used microsoft paint to make their final entry spent much, much more time on the project than their final entry shows. You are just failing to see all these points.

The bottom line here is that you went far above and beyond the submission requirements and now you expect something extra for your effort. Well sorry, but you voluntarily spent far longer on this than you needed to, and the rules are the rules. The rules say nothing about automatically winning by spending a long time preparing the entries.
Read my above post, they don't reply to emails.
How they treat us as shit? Because you didn't win?

freezinghazard: Count me one less GoG customer.
Errm, GOG primarily sells games. If you're here, it's presumably because you want to buy good old and newer games DRM-free at reasonable prices, not because you want to win some contest. It's all just dumb luck. I randomly won a game code here recently even though I've never won any sweepstakes in the last 15 years. If I didnt win any contest, I would not go away because that is not why I'm here in the first place. I don't understand your logic here at all.

freezinghazard: The contests are bullshit,
If you feel so strongly about a lighthearted caption contest, then you shouldn't have participated in the first place. I think the winners did it right, they took the contest for what it was and had fun with it. You tried to turn the contest into a much more serious affair than it was ever intended to be, failed, have no fun (as can be seen from your post), and now overreact by saying you'll never buy at GOG again. I think this is a rather silly reaction since it probably hurts you more than GOG, and all that over a 6$ coupon ...

My advice: Swallow it like a man, next time don't enter a random and/or subjective contest if you're so focused on winning, and have fun buying and playing GOG games. :)
Contest is not GOG's main selling point, they're just nice gesture as token of appreciation for their community. I agree there was mistake (BG&E) and several of them look ordinary to my taste, but in my opinion it's not worth to get panties in a bunch. The world doesn't revolve around you, i think you just being too personal here.
sorry for the double post.my internet went down

I'm not here to fight with mind numbing fans of GoG, you all obviously have great service with them but I posted this thread so they may actually READ it. Feedback is hard to crossover to the guy that runs this place, it should be an over the counter availability to us to provide feedback.

So I'm gone, have faith in your brand.

freezinghazard: It won't matter whether I won or not, I've got enough money to justify buying every game on their catalogue but treating us like shit is just a detergent and i'll take my business else where. Not to mention I've sent them a resume and never heard back, complete with a well put together portfolio I guess it must be something about them that makes it special to not reply to a well written email.

No matter who you are you never leave a potential employee hanging, this is grounds for dismissal. I'm still contemplating on reporting their misbehavior to their signed publishers so they can get an idea of how they treat people.
I've applied to 30+ jobs in the past 3 months, and only heard back from 2 employers. So I'm not sure why you think that it's normal for employers to respond to every single applicant, but in the United States, it isn't. It simply isn't normal practice to reply to every applicant.

I still don't see how you think they are treating you like shit. They followed the contest rules by randomly selecting winners. The only mistake was the Earth and Beyond winner, which really just comes off to me as harmless human error...meaning that no one took the time to figure out what video game the screenshot was and therefore just assumed it was Interplay. That seems damn near harmless to me.

Do you really think that one mistake calls for your behavior here?
lol?
Sometime's contest's just work like that. I don't know where your expectation's about contest's work. Sometime's when you enter a 'subjective contest you will lo'se. In fact, it happen's more often than not.

Lexor: lol?
Congratulations, you have now summarized the entire discussion. I will give you 2 internets and a beverage of your choice, provided you buy it yourself.
