That's a good thing for this movie. It's much more like the novels than Ahnold's movies ever were.
Let's hope they won't f#$k this up, i mean, as simple as the Conan universum seems, it's pretty easy to bork, especially with the standard set by the Arnie movies. I wonder if it'll fit the books and the music won't be "too christian". ;D

Were the original films even set in Hyboria? If memory serves, they were just the adventures of someone who happened to be called Conan that lived in a vague desert covered land.

EDIT: Momoa is a pretty good pick for Conan.

Honstely speaking I do have my doubts about this movie, mainly because of the director and I haven't heard that many good things of the script either. But the trailer does look pretty epic and it gives me hope.
maybe you are talking about the sequel, but the first conan movie with arnold was really good and did everything right
this new trailer on the other hand doesnt look like i want to see that movie

Have you ever actually read the Conan novels? The former Governator movies were pretty much like Al1 described; little to nothing to do with the novels, basically just used the character name.

Long time since I watched them but I seem to remember Sumeria mentioned but certainly not Hyboria.

And yes I think Momoa is perfect casting.
I would say that Arnold's Barbarian was heavily inspired and based on the books, his character matches the Conan from the books, his interests are selfish, first he acts as a thief and bounty hunter and then he wants vengeance for a grievance.

I personally really like the books and the first movie.

i have read 3 stories so far from howard about conan, and in my opinion the fist movie is a great depiction of the charakter
I showed the original to my fiance a few nights back.
she loved it.

I still want to watch the new one though.

That's kind of what I said (thought I wouldn't necessarily call Arnold's depiction "great"). They used the character but didn't respect the story. This new movie apparently follows much more closely to the story.

I'm excited. A little worried about the director though. I mean, I enjoyed Pathfinder, but it wasn't a very good movie, and the remakes of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th were both pretty awful. Hope he can pull this off.
It just looks just so... mediocre.

Action looks meh and I can't belive that I'm going to say that there's too much of it.
Too much CGI and shots that are made only for 3D . the modern plague of cinema.
