djranis: when did greed ever care about image,
When being perceived as a rip-off decreases your sales, I would think. I guess not though.

jamyskis: (Also, CoH has a bit of a bad rep here as the unofficial game of choice of the neo-nazi movement here in Germany)
Can it be a reason why I read on steam forums that Germany was the strongest faction and Russia weak as "schiste" in the game ?

Potzato: Can it be a reason why I read on steam forums that Germany was the strongest faction and Russia weak as "schiste" in the game ?
Well, that wasn't the case in the original game. I think it was more because it was one of the few war games where you could play the German side in the Second World War and in which the Wehrmacht mentality was actually well-reflected and still unchanged in the German version.

langurmonkey: Why would someone pay $55 to have content they can have for free with a little bit of patience?
avatar
jamyskis: Because as I said, most gamers are fucking idiots with absolutely no financial sense, and Sega know that these brainless morons will just lap it up. See the Top Sellers list for what I mean.

And it's €70 ($90) here for the standard edition on Steam, €20 more than most AAA games.

When you said all content can be unlocked in game, do you mean the base game or the digital collector's edition?

COH also made Germans look human instead of mindless killing machines. This is something I appreciate about COH, of course because wearing a grey uniform and carrying an MG42, doesn't automatically make you a mindless killing machine.

Yes, you also need a gas mask.

And an SS somewhere on your uniform and an SS tattooed on your arm. Those guys were definitely mindless killing machines.

langurmonkey: Here is screenshot that shows you all the DLC.
Oh my gosh, look at the screenshot! I wonder how many Germans and Soviets were skinned so now Sega can sell thousands of their skins. Poor guys, even a Nazi don't deserve this fate.
80 Euros on Steam for the "Base Game"

SEGA has officially lost it's mind

langurmonkey: Does anyone else find the attached image, disgusting?
That's pretty bad, but this is worse!

I wonder how many MILLIONS of copies Sega will expect this to sell to be considered profitable?

I thought so as well, although I now suspect this is an error. Sega is selling it for €50 on its own site:

It could be cheaper there as a reward for learning about their store and finding it.
Weirdly enough the game is cheaper for me to buy it retail from my local EB games than it is to buy it from steam (heck even the retail deluxe version is cheaper than buying the digital deluxe version from steam)
The base version has been corrected for Europe and is now €49.99, but it's still more expensive than retail.
damn you beating me to it :P

Tell me about it. With everyone preaching from the rooftops about Steam, its pricing is still god awful

langurmonkey: SOVIET SIDE
____________________

Soviet Officer - Sir, we can't stop the German infantry. They just keep coming and coming. All our positions north and west of the factory have been overrun. What do we do?

Soviet Captain - Damn it!! I should of purchased the anti infantry tactics DLC. They will have my head for this...and instead of $2.99, my troops had to pay with their blood!

15 minutes later...

GERMAN SIDE
____________________

German Captain - Muahahaha, I'm glad the Soviet Captain just bought the base game. Send in more infantry!

German Officer - Sir, our spy has told us, the Soviet Captain 10 minutes ago purchased the anti infantry tactics DLC with his mom's credit card.

German Captain - NOOOOOOOOOOOO! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWaLxFIVX1s
Don't you mean this?

Fuzzyfireball: SEGA and Square Enix LOVE their DLC. I find it to be expected that a lot of their games with be loaded with it.
SEGA sure does but SE? I haven't seen them doing anything out of ordinary. THQ when they were still around and CAPCOM would be better examples.

Aver: Why the price of this game is 80Euro for me? I'm talking about standard edition without any DLC.
The boxed "suggested" price in Poland is 40€. Most shops will have it around 35. Still more expensive than most new boxed releases for whatever reason.
