snowkatt: i have used battle.net but most with wow and th demo version of diablo 3 ( didnt like diablo 3 )

so i am not sure if its needed for diablo 2 or warcraft 3
avatar
grimrhyma: Yeah it's the classics I'm interestered in. But I did enjoy Diablo 3 co-op on PS3.
at least for starcraft I know you don't have to be online. I think its the same for diablo 2

grimrhyma: Excited about the blizzard store. anyone know how restrictive the battle.net DRM is (eg: will i need to be online to play?).

unfortuntly I'm not surportive of origin due to the afformentioned drm, and i should imangine square will be the same. but thanks all the same and +1 to all
I heard that for the PC for diablo 3 is always online DRM, while the console version is offline

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/09/07/oh-hell-no-offline-for-diablo-iii-pc-despite-consoles/

It looks like every big publisher is going the AODRM route.

That lead me to vote with my wallet on crowdfunding and stop buying from big publisher

I'v got a physcal copy of 1 and 2, but drm freeish digital version would be the icing on the cake.

Unlike Diablo 3, Diablo 2 and WarCraft 3 do not have online requirement. I bought the retail copies of the games a decade ago. About four years ago, I went to the Battle.net website, entered the serial codes from the retail copies, and redeemed the digital copies. So now I also own the digital copies at Battle.net. I downloaded the games from Battle.net, installed and played them for awhile. The games did not have any online requirement.

Therefore, I refuse to buy and play Diablo 3; (not interested in the console version either.)

Which reminded me: around the time I redeemed Diablo 2 and WarCraft 3 at Battle.net, Blizzard (following Google's footstep) supposedly demanded customers to use real names for Battle.net accounts. Screw that! When I registered for an account at Battle.net, I actually put "suck my dick" as my first name and "motherfucker" as my last name. I left it as "Suck my dick, motherfucker" for a few years, (or something like that.) Blizzard has never suspended or terminated my account over the obviously fake name. Anyway, Blizzard and Google suspended the "real ID" policy due to user backlash. I just recently changed my Battle.net account to my usual name, KT Chong.
I'm with you on sigle player (and I only use co-op with friends)

And to move back to the orginal topic. I am looking for (mostly) the 3d realms, zojoi type of deal.

I'd say it's just to be able to buy the game. Much like you need a GOG account to buy games from here. There wouldn't be the restrictive DRM that newer battle.net games have. Ask them or look it up even?

darthspudius: Don't forget that was a large point to the original use of Steam! :P

grimrhyma: TBH I am not totaly against Steam. but if it was'nt for there okish offline play i would hate it.
Okish? You turn it offline and leave it offline. Pretty much does what it says. Nothing to complain about.
high rated
Blizzard... Dem prices doh. They're definitely hoping to make a small fortune on those games.. $20 for the complete Diablo 2?? Psh.

Except for the fact if you are continuously offline for 2 weeks, you cannot access your game again unless you go back to online once more

Well no shit, it is an web based client after all. How dare you have to go online to download your games. Damn those sons of a bitches! People have some strange expectations from an online store.

Unless there is something I have missed, I download the games I want, I run it to make sure it works and turn it offline for a month at a time. No problems at all. None... ever.

Edit: I am being a sarcastic git before someone decides to rant.
