Now that I can relax a little bit after the first update (it didn't go as fast as I feared), I can go on continuing some discussion from earlier.

etna87: Out of curiosity: What number of people did you expect or hope for in the first round? Letting people participate only every other round might be interesting as well.
I don't really know, my earlier giveaways/competitions haven't had too many people participating, then again, they did require quite a bit more work, with the first - "Make a comic" - being the easiest and most popular.

If I'd taken a guess before I posted this thread, I'd probably say 30-odd people, but after the first couple hours I was afraid it'd shoot way above the number of boxes on the board.

pi4t: you might want to have a new round every 10 entries for any future competitions, to ensure the minesweeper aspect works.
Yeah, that's probably what I'm going to do for future games (not 10, but some limit). I'm not going to change the rules after they've been set though.

How about this: Your grid is what, 11 by 11 right? That's 121 boxes possible. Make the limit either 20 or 30, that sets how many days you can go, and have people enter before you start the round. That way everyone can decide at the same time. Between rounds, take everyone who's been cut, announce openings to replace them, and set another time limit to when the next round starts, and go on like that until the board has cleared or all the prizes are found. If everyone gets knocked out and nobody new enters while prizes are still on the board, cycle back the people who lasted the longest for a second attempt, and roll backwards like that until everything is cleared.

I already do have ideas for improvements for the next game And yes this grid is 11-by-11, the next one might be bigger (easy to make the layout table, more work building the presentation image).

I don't think letting people join after the first round is such a good idea. It makes people wait for others to reveal the green/red dots instead of actually playing. Make a new board instead if all participants are eliminated and there are prizes remaining.
Whew, still alive...

I'll try C07.

Thanks! :)

I'm thinking remaining earlier participants might take precedence though, even if they're late to the next round. That'd allow for a flow of new people to replace the lost ones, while still stopping ninjas jumping on to new knowledge.
Grabbing H11. Thanks!

I don't know what happened to H08, but I'll go with D06 next if I haven't retroactively been blown up.

Oops, dammit. Hope I didn't miss anyone else.

Board's been updated, looks like you're still in the game.

Nuh-uh. Your first post was after the first round ended, and thus part of the second.
