and still, germany only gets the localized version. Fighting with Robots and some levels that have been changed to get a FSK 16 certification.

Will not buy it!

Nirth: As for your comment about retail, what the hell do you mean by "don't bother then"? I mean that by todays standard it's very easy to cut some cost by not selling your games retail especially old ones where you basically through it to a tech team to make it working on modern hardware/OS then out the door to the digital store.

Miaghstir: Thing is, they ARE selling it through retail. But there's no disc in the package, just a redeemable code.
Hmm. Maybe they're are trying to promote Origin then.

They have First Decade with fan patches who make the game Win7 compatible and also bring for example PSX and N64 missions that are not present in official release? ;-)

Ha, so they are going to use this and ULTIMA 4EVA as bait to lure people into installing Origin on their computer? EA must be getting desperate and sick of paying distribution fees to Valve

The only interesting thing:
ONLINE CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS: For Multiplayer games: 2 to 8 players with optional voice support, network or Internet connection required (Cable, DSL, or faster connection)
no mention of the CnC 4 DRM online demand there!?




As for arguments for or against eh they are the same as for the First Decade release. HARD CORE purist fans won't get it because they'll already have everything; who it will apply to are those who maybe bought one or two games and can now get the whole series for a very reasonable cost - along with all the expansion packs (and in the pre-online days many games would get limited expansion pack retail releases making some very very hard to find and super expensive if you could find them).

It's mostly not a deal for me as the only things I lack are the CnC 3 expansion and CnC4 - the former of which I can get cheaper on Steam if I really want it and the latter is -- well - the DRM is one pain I will never pay for and the other pain is that it was just regarded as not good (It's the kind of thing I'd get in a super sale or bargin bin as a chance for some fun - at least if it didn't have that Online all the time DRM rubbish)

I bought First decade too. Why EA can't add digital edition of games from First Decade to my Origin account? Why I need to buy them twice?

I think I may look deeper into that, but seeing as no real disc version is coming out, it may be a moot point anyway.

Pretty much. And Tiberium Dawn is free these days. EA knows the value of free games for publicity from Ultima, so why not bring them over here?
