I'm starting to get excited whenever Larian Vault logs me out ("My keys! Now they're here! I have to log in again - quickly!").
I better go offline now.

Matruchus: Yes I know. But you will need Gog Galaxy for multiplayer - if you look at the galaxy announcement it says that single player will be client free. Multiplayer won't be client free necessarily. It more points to client being mandatory for multiplayer. Read the announcement again here: http://www.gog.com/news/introducing_gog_galaxy
Apparently not. the gOg version available to KS backers have fully working MP via direct IP and Lan. So Galaxy is then not required for MP, only as a matchmaking service.

Icinix: Amendment: The GOG version is only available for Kickstarter backers who have NOT reedeemed their Steam Alpha / Beta Key.

Although that should be resolved within a day.
Amendment: That's what Larian claims, but it's not true for everybody - I never requested nor redeemed any Alpha / Beta Keys, I chose GOG for both from the beginning. Yet I'm locked into two different Steam keys labelled as "Delivered" and no option to change back to GOG. Larian's just shifting the blame on us though the responsibility for this mess lies completely on them.
What happened with mac release????????? Steam have mac from beginning.

Contact support!
The sad thing about this big mess, is that i saw an interview of Swen on a TV channel here in France, and the game looked amazing, i was totally convinced about it. I really can't understand what happened, they seems a decent company, but it's all fucked up this delay. The key issue is a problem but it can happen to a small company, so it's not a big deal. In worst case you wait 2 or 3 days, but 2 month delay for public release, i really can't understand it.

Which is intriguing - is it not? There is a gOg version available, fully functional, but we are not allowed to officially buy it yet.

Yeah its not the final release version. If gog had early access this would have been in it now and no problems with release then. But this is just speculation.
it is "without the online multiplayer component", but it has working IP an LAN multiplayer.

Yes but as it says there the official public release (final version of the game) for gog will be on August the 31st with Gog Galaxy with server based multiplayer support. So basically gog version available for Kickstarters is not final and will probably be patched to the version that supports gog galaxy. Buying a Kickstarter game you basically buy Early Access so thats why they are getting the game sooner in fully playable version but without server based multiplayer (matchmaking and other stuff).

I agree whole heartily and am in the same boat.

I just pointed it out as it was indeed meant to be an amendment.

everybody knows that, it was about the galaxy cover up they used to justify releasing in 2 months

no - the only difference is not that MP is working or not - it is. What is missing is the Galaxy integration for matchmaking. So gOg and Larian are holding back the release to coincide with the Galaxy release. There is somewhere someone who have made the decision that gOg playes must wait until the release of Galaxy before they can buy D:OS, never minding that there is a complete gOg version already in existence - which people could buy right now. The existing gOg version already have better functionality than for example the gOg version of Brutal Deluxe. What can the reason be to hold it back? It can not be lack of MP, as this is already there. Then it is only because of the lack of alternative matchmaking via a not yet released platform.

what can be speculated, though - will the steam version have crossplay? And is the code already implemented?
I am a little disappointed by this.

I love the idea of an optional client that allows me the social aspect of games, the achievements, and heck even authenticated multiplayer (ranked/matchmaking)... so long as it isn't all multiplayer (lan/directIP at least?) (looking at you AoW3, though I do get to play hotseat at least.)

I can understand why D:OS would want to be a launch title for it. I truly can.

What I can't understand is the lack of communication on a GOG release date prior to...

I purposely didn't pick it up during the Steam Summer sale because I wanted to support the idea of DRM free.
I excitedly told all my friends about the game and how they should pick it up on GOG.
I confidently praised both companies.

Yet, here I am sitting on a few hundred bucks waiting to buy it for myself and several loved ones and friends looking like an idiot.

Hopefully it ends up being released soon, despite lacking the Galaxy integration. I'd love to fall in love with the game once and then all over again when matchmaking is introduced. That is what I am hoping for with Galaxy... my already owned games getting integrated for the matchmaking / achievements / social aspects... Just don't pull an AoW3 and I'm happy.

Please Larian and GOG... this makes little sense.
