Yes folk, they're not releasing it on GOG until Galaxy is done. The part where G-Doc explained how the multiplayer will work pre-Galaxy was a clever diversion, which you expertly saw through.

unfortunately, for undecided new customers this nice announcement is saying it simply: " fuck GOG and hurry up, it is still 20% off on Steam..." Can't believe they can produce such PR!

Maybe just a "workaround" for Backers who where promised GOG Keys.

The release date is/was today - it is available at Steam, it is not available here and the usual release time here is "over" and we just get a "soon" statement connected with talk about the coming galaxy integration...

Wrong. They only said that not all online features will be availlable until Galaxy is done but you can play online before using Direct IP or LAN.

I read in a german forum that on Steam there is a day one patch. Maybe this causes the delay. Maybe GOG wants to implement that patch before releasing.

Pardon me but for a game that is on record as being released June 30, this is a troubling statement, especially the bolded part.
Is that not like saying we want to make this game available but until future technology catches upto what we want this game to be on your service, we will be releasing it on all other services except yours. Once your service is upto par by adding in a feature that has never ever been available from you, then you can have it.

I don't personally make day 1 purchases but for those who do, wouldn't making sure its available on release day be the "best possible form"?
And like others have said in this thread and in other threads about this game, what is the actual harm in announcing a release date weeks ahead of time instead of announcing it belatedly hours later on the actual release date?

This same announcement a month ago would have gone a long way. Even though you haven't lost mine, you've definitely lost plenty of sales over the years by (almost) always choosing to go the delayed secretive route instead of the open pre-release announcement route.

Nah it's not impatience, I already downloaded it and still haven't played it yet, probably won't be able to till tonight, but the discount expired as I typed this. So yeah getting it at the best price is very important to me. You'd be a fool (IMHO ;)) to buy any game at full MSRP. The way you can mitigate the eventual depreciation of the game is to wait or to buy it at the best discount you can get and that often is the preorder one. If I have any remote interest in a game, the best thing a publisher can do is give me a preorder discount. Once that passes, I won't even consider buying the game without a min 50% discount. It's just the way I buy games now. I have paid full MSRP for one game in the past I'd say 5 years and it was only because I was on a nostalgia trip and it was a cheap game anyway ($9.99 Ikagura on steam). GoG will most likely be full MSRP since it is rare for a distributor to discount a just released game other than for a preorder, so if I wait for the GoG version I'd be waiting at least till Nov/Dec or maybe winter sale for a 50% discount.

But still I already know I am going to end up buying the GoG version later, but not till it hits the magic 75% off mark (well assuming I love the game ;)).

Seems quite strange considering they could easily just release the GOG version first THEN if and when the *galaxy* version becomes reality, then just update the installer available -- or does that seem to reasonable? (this all assuming the launch on GOG will be delayed..)
