Matruchus: Ah, well. As I said its your decision and most of the games will never come to gog and that is a fact as long as statements from AAA developers about drm generating profits hold.
If they don't want my money that's fine, I'll play the games i want one way or the other.

Yeah - I still think they got that wrong - and we'll see it well before then - if not the next few days.

...I was one of those fools however who caved to Larians Facebook commentary pleading with us to try out the alpha and beta so I activated my Steam key...thinking in good faith it would just die off and the GOG key would come on release.

So I'm waiting for the 'soon' from Larian....

No, you can't. But some games are DRM-free and can be neatly backed up by simply copying its folder (or packing it in a zip file) instead of using Steam's built-in function, those games really only use Steam as a downloader and can be played (at least singleplayer, multi depends on the game) without having the client installed.

Clarification: I'm not advocating for Steam, but I like to clear up confusions.

*shrugs* I can very well live with that.
I have bought three games on Steam so far, the rest is from bundles or were gifts.
I have 101 games on GOG including more expensive ones as Age of Wonders III.
So maybe "most" games don't come to GOG but I have enough wonderful games to play here and can just decide to not give those developers and/or Steam my money.
I can also help by looking where the licenses of old games went and contact those people to help getting cool old games on GOG.
I can do a lot t further GOG and the wonderful service they (generally) provide. And I certainly don't need to go running crying to Steam.

Yay! Seems Larian fixed their Vault and just now I was able to select GOG for the DUO copy and activate it here! Hope by the time I get home from work the download will work.

I don't know. Somebody yesterday posted a link on which Larian in their forums states that they think that the game will be released together with the gog client. I think the problem here really is with gogs delay in gog galaxy development.

Dang....If that is the actual case - then that is a huge erroneous call from whoever decided that was a good idea.

Raised a ticket (FAUQDC72) 11 hours ago but here's all the information needed:

The GOG account page for Divinity: Original Sin provides the following links for the installers, which all result in a 404 page:

https://secure.gog.com/downlink/divinity_original_sin/en1installer1
https://secure.gog.com/downlink/divinity_original_sin/en1installer2
https://secure.gog.com/downlink/divinity_original_sin/en1installer3

Changing these links to:

https://secure.gog.com/downlink/file/divinity_original_sin/en1installer1
https://secure.gog.com/downlink/file/divinity_original_sin/en1installer2
https://secure.gog.com/downlink/file/divinity_original_sin/en1installer3

allows the downloads to work. However other games use installer links without the /file/ subfolder so the issue is almost surely with the code that's supposed to link the GOG-supplied download links to EdgecastCDN URLs.

The caveats in those cases being (a) it's about as inelegant and untidy as it gets and (b) the vast majority of those games are already available elsewhere DRM-free anyway, so if you place value in having it DRM-free, you might as well buy it from Humble Store, GOG or on disc in the first place.

Well.. There is some speculation that Divinity Original Sin is a Steam exclusive, so they can't release it until 2 months later (General public, not the backers). But because GOG is under an NDA, they can't reveal that fact, so they using the GOG Galaxy as cover-up news.
