This is lame if the game is really gonna be released end Aug. So a game that's supposed to be released now, gets released 2 months later exactly when WL2 is gonna be released while the rest of the steam users are already playing? All that for an optional client? Really it doesn't make sense since you can easily afford to release it now. The number of sales you gonna lose alone for the game will be quite staggering.

And btw, I still have not gotten my GOG key from Larian Vault either and I'm a day 1 backer.

yes, you're likely correct. However, I feel that the DRM-free crowd is growing more every day and eventually will be a force to be reckoned with. And I, for one, even though I love Larian's games, will decline to back any other project they may have if it turns out that the reason for this screw up is what I'm thinking it is. I may only be one voice now, but down the road I'll be part of a choir. Maybe then they'll sit up and take notice.

I think all of this confirms that gogs policy on release date nondisclosure for games is just bullshit and making them lose sales and customers.

And just to mention Divinity: Original Sin just wen't to TBA status in new&coming which means probably nothing is going to happen till August.

I voted for client, because it looked like it is for our convenience (simpler patching etc...), and it should be ALWAYS optional.
But now I'm strongly against - with this unbelievable D:OS launch megafail, I see GOG want us to use it by default, which is nearly the same case as buying games on Humble or on Steam! D:OS is DRM-free there too, just uses Steam for multiplayer part... Where is difference? Steam users are playing their game now!
They lost a lot of "classic game" customers, they are loosing "new game" customers, because they are not competent to deliver games on global launch day and only happy here now are cheapskates during huge sales... GOG WAKE UP PLEASE!!!

Yes, the reason dates back when gog signed with larian on regional pricing, otherwise steam would be angry.
Then after huge community roar gog dropped regional pricing and the trio agreed on a "2-months steam exclusive" with only gog-backers (very small financial loss).
The galaxy-reason is just a wash-up, a misdirection from the real reason.

So, we will see dos here on gog over 2 months, flat-priced and with galaxy being 100% optional.

Wow, D:OS is going to be my first Day 1 purchase at full price since Witcher 2 and I wanted gog to have that money. But i'm not going to wait another 2 months and since the steam version is drm free also, there really is no argument against buying it there now. Sorry guys.

Well, GOG is known for Good Old Games and as an old gamer I have the patience to wait. Unfortunately when it comes to the release of new games GOG did not break up the formula of releasing it 'sometime'.

31st August does not fit into my holiday planning this year. But I am happy GOG is fine getting my money some day later - at a 80% discount next Easter Sale. Might be the Easter after or another Sale in another year, but I am trained for waiting. There is a pile of other games waiting for me.

In case there are any other games you do not want my full money for please let me know sooner so I can enhance my holiday.

Until I really see that galaxy is going to be optional I won't believe it. Gog has lost my trust with regional pricing disaster and all the other stunts they pulled.
Not advocating steam but the game is available drm-free there. You can download it there via client and just move the game folders out and start the game like any other game. Larian stated that the game is released drm-free on Steam.
