You might have heard that the guys at Stainless Games have been trying to Carmageddon + the Splat Pack if you back the Kickstarter project for $25 or more!

In case you aren’t aware of what Carmageddon is, let’s take you a brief tour of gaming history. It’s the late nineties, and Stainless Software Ltd. brings a game that bursts onto the scene in a spray of blood, a crash of steel, and a anguished shriek of pedestrians when they released Carmageddon. It’s an ultra-violent racing game--this is not one for the kiddies!--where you crash, rend, crush, crumple, and demolish your way to victory. There’s a backstory of sorts--the world has gone to pot, and you’re racing in order to survive in a car-eat-car world--but that’s not the point.

Your job is to win races. Sure, you could play the game like a realistic racing simulator, avoiding any fender-benders and pedestrians. You can even win all of the races that way if you’re talented. But the real fun comes from pulling wild stunts, wrecking and collecting your opponents’ cars, and generally wreaking havoc on the track. Carmageddon launched amidst a lot of controversy due to its violent nature, but under the gore and impressive 3dFX graphics lies a great game.

This will be coming to GOG.com in the upcoming months--our crack team of contentologists is hard at work getting all of the bytes dusted off and all of the graphics buffed to a high shine--and will be available here for $9.99. In the meantime, though, if you want to help make the next Carmageddon game happen, you can back it on Kickstarter, and if you chip in more than $25, you’ll get the GOG.com copy of Carmageddon for free once we’ve gotten it launched!

Gentlemen, start your engines!
I hear you.
I liked 2 way more than 1 (except the missions).
But, Stainless really like 1 better it seems.
Reincarnation seems to be being based more and more off of 1.
If you look at it that way, it makes sense for them to release 1 long before 2 on gog.

But, my guess is that all the carmageddons will be coming to gog eventually.

turrican17: Carmageddon 2 was always my favorite. Already supported the Kickstarter Project....the new Twisted Metal is fun....but Carmageddon is the King of Car-Combat =)

So why bringing Part 1 while Part 2 offers much more...or am I wrong with this assumption?
2 better than 1!? Wow.

1 had better atmosphere, music, peds and the cars handled better. It was streamlined, faster and way more fun. 2 was good mind, just got a lot of stuff wrong IMO.

So pleased I'll get to play Carmageddon again!
Fantastic idea. I was waiting for this too long;) Pledged:)
Good idea.

I haven't checked out the Carmageddon Kickstarter until now and was disappointed about the drm free pledge backer numbers. Then I saw that it was added only two days ago and also speculated that maybe people switched their pledges for the GOG pledge. Also, this is a game where Steam would be awesome for multi-player. So I'm still not getting a good gauge.

Well the higher pledge also get the DRM-free version (unless I am missing something) so there is also peoples who pledge for higher rewards.

I am interested by both the GoG and DRM-free version but I pledge more than 25$.

Yeah, I liked 2 a lot, but I fucking love the first one. It's also much more brutal.

I'd buy three again if it was cheap, but otherwise, a mixed bag.
I've spend countless of hours on Carmageddon. It's one of the main games I was anticipating here, with the upcoming release of the sequel. This is going to be great!
wishlisted already.can't wait to play this again

Anyone who pledges $15 or more gets both the Steam version and the DRM free version. Kickstarter doesn't let developers change the reward descriptions after the kickstarter is live (probably to keep them from removing rewards from a tier), so they added a second $15 reward option to highlight the inclusion of the DRM version. But it doesn't matter whether a person pledging $15 picks the "steam" reward or the "DRM-free" reward, you get both regardless.

That's a good way to do it. Kickstarters for video games can be confusing sometimes.
This is HUGE, amazing news indeed!

I'm really, really happy that the Original Carmageddon finally found a new home on GOG

Another Cult classic joins the GOG library

Hopefully we will get the Sequel: Carmageddon 2 - Carpocalypse now as well as the brand new game: Reincarnation over here eventually
People without a Credit Card (like about the most people in Central Europe) aren't able to pledge at this Project. Too Bad...

There's a couple of options potentially....

Their FAQ lists a way of using pre-paid: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stainlessgames/carmageddon-reincarnation#IDontHaveACredCardCanIStilPled

That will get you onto the kickstarter too and help towards the kickstarter figures....

The second way is after the kickstarter is complete (and funded too probably so after this is over) paypal options will then be added.

keremix: 2. How will I be able to prove to Gog.com that I have paid $25 for the kickstarter project?
avatar
JMich: You don't, you prove to Stainless that you pledged at least that much, and they'll send you a GOG.com code.
thank you
