Picked up Knock-Knock on the promo, went to play it some... Only to be greeted by the worst coil whine I have ever heard.

The isn't the first time my GTX780 has made this sound (did it a lot during benchmarks when I built it last month, and some during games like Ass Creed 4).

Anyone have any ideas for fixing or mitigating it? As it stands right now the game is unplayable (at least not without going literally insane).

You should check if your graphics card bios has newer version.
If not.. Maybe it will wear off if it is just bought card. :P

Fairly certain I'm on latest gpu BIOS... granted EVGA doesn't exactly make it easy to determine.

What I searched from google.. Few said it could be caused by not so great power supply. Some said if you just played a lot of demanding games plenty of hours it could go away. Or some said that limiting your fps with vsync would help.

But that's google but there are some ideas to throw around.

Good thing my asus gtx 760 doesn't really make any unusual noises. *rubs in your face* I'm sorry for that remark. ^^

What are your frames running at in Knock-Knock? The card was bought last month?

Last month yes, and I didn't check frame-rate but I've been playing it in windowed mode (even if I was in full-screen though I have v-sync forced on for everything, and the fps capped at 60 in EVGA precision for those pesky things that nvidia control panel doesn't play nice with). Doubt it is the power supply, opted for a decent one (same manuf. as the gpu and everything). Always use v-sync as it is.

As for your gtx 760... *rubs your face in the fact it uses the GK104 instead of the GK110* :P

Thank you... my framerate was like over 1000 according to the OSD... No wonder things were acting up... apparently I need to do some configuring for Windowed games.

Yeah.. Your card is superior in every way.
Expensive stuff.. Too bad that when you (where I mean all people) buy something there's always that something what annoys. =/

Apparently too powerful, never dealt with insane framerates on my last comp.
Having to force cap the frame-rate through EVGA precision, since there's hardly any options. I thought I had it capped in Precision earlier, but it must have reset.

How did you cap those? With that Frame rate target thing?

Yeah.

You can cap it with RTSS too. Capping doesn't always get rid of tearing, though, even if the fps is lower than your refresh rate. So if you can't force vsync and you're having tearing and want to get rid of it, then you can try using Nvidia Inspector or D3D overrider to force vsync too.
