More PC games he says? Great news hopefully now they can focus on games made for playing on current technology and not technology a decade old like consoles.
Oh dear, Someone else thinks the same thing.
We won't be able to do that now, though. We still have to use the disc for games we buy physically. This is the loss of some of the most future-facing features of the system, things that changed and challenged the traditional limitations of console gaming.
My god, someone in this day and age are complaining about using the fucking disk(s) on a console?

*Plays Final Fantasy 7, reaches end of disk one, gets a prompt telling me to insert disk two, takes 5-10 seconds to insert the second disk, continues playing the game* Oh the horror.

*Plays The Witcher 2 on Xbox, gets a prompt to insert disk two, takes 5-10 seconds to insert the second disk, continues playing the game* Oh the horror.

Rinse and repeat for Final Fantasy XIII, L.A Noire, and other games on other systems that used multiple disks.

Maybe Amazon is bigger, but most of their games are just reselling steam keys.

As a whole Humble Store is fairly big now also, but GOG offers more total games than they do.

I doubt specific numbers would ever come out, but when devs have released sales data for their games it usually has Steam in first place, then GOG and direct sales in second or third then other places way behind that. That combined with the other games GOG sells like classics and there is a good chance they are second for PC games. Maybe Amazon would be bigger from being more well known and selling steam keys so cheap.

Edit: Since Battle.net was mentioned, they only sell Blizzard games. They may open up in the future and sell other stuff once they get the client done.

Many games have 100+ reviews, and to review you need to have bought the games, so I'd assume that games do sell through it.

I'd like to know how not having my console send a ping back to Microsoft every 24 hours somehow kills the ability of developers to make realistic chest high wall physics.

Same as always? If you are connected and the game can use the cloud, it uses it. If you ain't connected or the game doesn't use the cloud, it doesn't.

Actually, Games is the most popular category. Though yes, users also use the store to get software. But software is also being sold through Steam now, are you going to exclude Steam, if you're excluding Windows Store, because it also offers non-games?

Since we're here, what about the Apple guys? The iTunes store also sells games, and the iPad is nothing more than a personal computer in a tablet form. Are we going to count iTunes here?

EDIT: Battle.net sells first-party games only, yet it makes more money and has more users than GOG. Are we going to exclude that one because it doesn't sell third-party games?

Lots of variables that need to be considered, thus, you can't just simply put a list of most popular / most used / most profitable / whatever DD services.

I am pleased with the fact that digital game distribution on the PC got summed up as "Steam and GOG". That's awesome to read ^^.

"The Cloud" is a fancy way of saying dedicated servers. Hell you could say Everquest 1 was cloud based in 1999 since it had servers running all the AI for the world.

I was referring to DD stores that sell PC games, so iTunes doesn't count. And how many games does Microsoft sell exactly on their store ?
