When the Customer becomes the enemy something is wrong.
I don't see why he would be complaining about Gamestop now since the 24 hour check in was done so disc games could still be traded in. Since it was for "select retailers" only, that meant Gamestop would have had a monopoly on used games.

If Microsoft wanted to do a digital platform they should have made the games one time activation, with no check ins afterward, while enabling digital trading and the family sharing plan to compensate for the games not being resellable.

This ^ then maybe it would have been received better maybe?

Elenarie: Because unlike some random dude that plays games, these have been in the industry for many years and have the experience that wannabe-relevant folks dream about.
Never mind the fact that their games are dog shit.

I really don't understand this man. (sigh)
If those studios need to fuck with our rights as consumers in order to stay in business then fuck them. Let them die.

Yeah, there isn't a single game from [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/unreal_tournament_goty]on [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/unreal_2_the_awakening_se]site.

None from the time when Epic had to put "Epic Rulez!" into their own games.

Did they actually put that in Gears of War? I never played any of them, but sadly I wouldn't be surprised.

(I own some of them here. :p)

But they don't matter, because Epic back then was another Epic, and cared and loved it customers, but the Epic of today doesn't, right right right!?

I don't think that EA, ATVI, Ubisoft or other companies ever asked MS to behave like this - these companies have always shown they have their means to control resales (read: username for the online gaming).

MS isn't protecting developers or publishers, they are only protecting their 16% share for each game sold. And Cliff is just licking their ass.
"...in the years since Steam and GOG rose to become justifiable alternatives to physical media..."

Still wondering, but no one told me - Is GOG now the second biggest DD site after Steam ?

Yes

Maybe Amazon is bigger, but most of their games are just reselling steam keys.

As a whole Humble Store is fairly big now also, but GOG offers more total games than they do.

I meant as in income and user-base, not catalogue size.

Then Steam, Windows Store and Battle.net are ahead by a few light years for sure. Probably Origin and Ubisoft's store as well.
